I've bought tickets to fly on AA to visit mom. So far it says masks required, nothing about vaccines yet. I hope they don't implement that before my flight. The airlines are trying to get the feds to mandate it.

I'm in the Dominican Republic right now. Jetblue required a negative test to board, but I won't be surprised if vaccines become mandatory.

The airlines can't take another hit. If fedgov mandates it for airline travel, they cut off a good percentage of passengers.
I'm sure the JB requirement is actually a DomRep requirement or an entry requirement from DomRep.

Each of the diseases schools require vaccination for are far more problematic than covid. They kill at a greater rate, or paralyze (polio) or result in birth defects if transmitted to a pregnant woman (rubella), or cause serious problems later in life (chicken pox, hepB). And rabies of course is catastrophic for the animal and any human it bites.
Covid has none of these concerns. We don’t require annual flu vaccine in children to attend school (except lunatic Massachusetts), Covid is more like flu than any of those other diseases, in fact, in children it is far less deadly or transmissible than flu. The old people dying from covid aren’t getting it from little kids.

So I get one answer amount the insults, thank you. I genuinely didn't know, I haven't any kids. So kids already have to be vaccinated to go to school. What's the big deal with requiring one more? I'm sort of hoping they do it at my school so we can get back to face to face teaching. I've had enough of this remote shit.

I have mixed feelings about vaccines. On the one hand I’m real glad the polio vaccine came along when it did, and I’m happy to have been in the generation that eradicated smallpox. On the other hand, I wonder what we are doing to our natural immunity from an evolutionary standpoint by vaccinating against more and more diseases? Is man going to become dependent on external technology to do what Mother Nature has taken care of for millions of years? I can envision the numbers of diseases we must get vaccinated for rising into the dozens and hundreds. Why not? Right now I count 13 diseases we regularly vaccinate everyone for and the number keeps increasing. Is anyone thinking about what this means in the long term? You know like we should have thought about what overuse of antibiotics does in the long term.

No requirement from the DR. They pulled people from the customs line for random covid tests. Other people we talked to said American didn't require one. We did have to get tested this morning for our return trip, though. If positive, it'll be a 14 day quarantine down here before we are allowed back in the US

I know. The resort clinic didn't go as far up the nose as the other tests I took. We were joking that maybe they are trying to make sure all tests come back negative so they don't have to room a bunch of people on their dime for the quatantine.

Agreed. Though there will be businesses who are so scared of Big Brother that they will enforce this unconstitutional law as long as they feel they need to stay out of the crosshairs.
