Title: Auto insurance
Post by: jaybee on January 25, 2016, 02:16:59 PM
Had to pick up a new policy after divorce, I pay more for less on my auto insurance than I do for my Avemco policy.

No accident history, no tickets in the last 20 years, driving a little tiny econobox....

This is from USAA. Pulled a quick quote from State Farm it looked about the same.

Happy with USAA just didn't realize how ridiculous it was priced these day.

don't think it can get any better unless you buy some crap insurance from some crap company

just kind of blew me away that i get twice the damage and liability with 30000 hull for half the cost on my Avemco policy

and i won't even call geico or progressive, last time i did like 5 years ago, they gave me a great quote so I went to purchase and then they jack the rate up by 75% due to "lack of international credit"  :o

Where do you live? Why did your premium go so high, did they give you a reason? Did you move to a more urban area?

When we moved from a small city in upstate NY to a large metro area further south (exurbs, 25 miles from the city) the auto rate doubled just due to higher incidence of accidents (lots of traffic), stolen cars, and higher repair costs.
Forget the saturation commercial companies. How do you think they pay for all that air time?

Got me, haven't been to either place. Maybe they think you're going to race your car?

Didn't you ask your agent why the increase?

Probably some actuary statistics showing recently divorced men as a higher risk.

Seems bogus to me. Unless he's under 25 and/or has a bunch of tickets.

"No accident history, no tickets in the last 20 years, driving a little tiny econobox...."

of course, if he's under 25, the "no tickets in the last 20 years" could still be true.  ;-)
