Good article. I’m still waffling about whether to try and red pill my Dem friends who get their opinion of Trump from two minutes a day of CNN. Vicious internal struggle. I’m not very good at the persuasive arts.

I'd write them off if they do that.  Wow.  It wouldn't be worth my time and effort.

Friends are scarce.  As we are being forced to isolate it's more important than ever that we keep in contact with our friends. Stay in touch, be supportive on their personal issues, but it's almost impossible to change someone's mind.  As the saying goes, "Never try to teach a pig to sing.  It wastes your time and annoys the pig."

We have a friend who is hyper anti-Trump but otherwise a good person. It's useless to change her mind.  Trying to do that with facts and reasoning does no good and leads to anger and frustration on both sides.  So we gently steer the conversation away from politics and into why we're friends in the first place.  Then it turns into a good experience for all.

(I know that "forced to isolate" is not really accurate but I can't think of any other way to put it.  You get the idea.)

Well maybe Anthony’s suburban soccer moms that all went blue might start turning around on two issues: 1.) they don’t like the rioting, and want law and order (“security moms”) and 2.) they’re sick of their kids and want to reopen schools.

Interesting theory, but they are still too insulated.  They drive their Range Rovers, Teslas and Suburbans locked in their little bubbles, erecting huge signs and billboards on the front yard when little Brittney, or Jeffrey graduates or has a Birthday.  Hey, look at me, look at me, I'm special!  All the while posting incessantly on Facebook and Twitter about all of it and how horrible Trump has been.

Wait until they see the Ghouls I "lynch" in my front yard for Halloween.

I'm getting too cynical aren't I?

Giving women the vote was one of the worst mistakes this country ever made.

I’m glad they got to vote - they can no longer say “things wouldn’t be so bad if we had a say in how the country was run.”  ;D

Actually allowing non property owners was worse.

Either property owners or net positive tax payers or both.   People that have skin in the game and aren't just playing with OPM.

Now that's something I'd get behind, only net contributors should be able to vote.

Supposedly the issue with women is they weren’t the ones working and earning the money, and so didn’t really grasp the importance of a strong economy for job security. You know, they had a man and he was the wallet, it was his problem to keep a job!

But since women’s lib now we can have jobs and careers so you would think that would make women lean more conservative in their voting, but it hasn’t worked out that way. Why? Maybe because women still don’t carry their weight in supporting the family, still are the smaller income, take the time off or go part time when the babies come, and so still rely on their man to be the main breadwinner, to be the main worrier about job security leaving women free to vote based on feeeeeeeeelings about this or that.

Many women, like steingar, for instance, simply emote when they would be better off studying the issues and considering the potential downside of voting for someone because shit for brains celebrities said so., or the faculty lounge parasites demand it.

I see both sides. I have very good friends that are on the left, and they know we are on the right. We simply do not discuss politics. Ever.  It seems to work.

My Ops Officer is far left, and always likes to engage. I’ve walked out on two discussions where he started a political discussion. I like political discussion and debate, but not with a rabid asshole. So he got the message and we don’t talk policies.

I have other people including a college buddy for whom I was best man in his wedding. He’s a write-off.  He’s an dem who’s also an asshole.  It didn’t matter when we were young, but I have zero patience for him and his antics now.
