Wasn’t it Trump himself who chided the Dems for wasting time on all this impeachment talk instead of working for the people on stuff like say, gun control? Or am I thinking of someone else who said that? Anyway, someone said it. Chunky played right into it, defensively going, “ See, we’re still doing our job.”
(Like their “job” is to kill the 2nd Amendment.)

Trump will not sign any meaningful gun control laws. We already have 22,000 gun laws at all levels of government. These "mass shootings" are statistically, very small in number, and account for very few deaths. The inner city Black on Black violence and SUICIDES account for the vast majority of murders by CRIMINALS using a gun. Stop those.

I saw a recent headline about the congresscritters claiming to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time (I think it was the moron Pressley).
Part of the comment was that they could pursue impeachment and still do their job helping the citizens.
I found the implications strange (impeachment isn't part of their job and they think they are helping "citizens".)

That's because in their deluded minds they actually believe most people hate Trump and want him gone. They believe people who support Trump are a minority fringe group. They are blind to the fact that a full half of this country would support Trump, and many more who don't support Trump but do not want an impeachment circus.
In their deluded psychosis they actually believe the NRA is a terrorist organization.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors are the real terrorists. They've helped destroy a once beautiful city. What has the NRA done but promote responsible, and legal gun ownership and gun safety? They're small potatoes when it comes to lobbying groups and don't even crack the top 50 of political donors.

A recent conversation I had made me think that we should have a national program to educate gun owning parents on the importance of teaching their kids a little gun safety. You know, things like how to tell if a gun is loaded, or if the safety is on, or maybe even just which end the bullet comes out, and demonstrate to them the power that comes out with that bullet. It's kind of tragic when a kid finds their parents gun and points it at a friend and pulls the trigger without realizing what they are doing.
I remember the first time I fired a pistol (under supervision). Even though I had seen guns fired before, it still scared the shit out of me when I actually fired one (a .38 magnum) for the first time. It was similar to the first time I fired a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun and accidentally (or ignorantly) pulled both triggers at the same time, without snugging the shotgun up to my shoulder. That dent my head put in the car behind me definitely did not buff out and my shoulder hurt for a week. But at least I never accidentally shot a friend while playing around after that.

America saw a significant decrease in the number of homicides involving rifles, a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation released on Monday shows.
All methods of murder dropped by 7 percent in 2018, and gun murders fell by 6.7 percent, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report. But murders committed specifically with rifles fell by an even greater 23.8 percent.
Additionally, the FBI’s breakdown shows rifles were involved in only 2.8 percent of all murders (297 incidents total). Rifles were used less often to commit murder than knives, fists, and blunt objects. Those findings remained consistent with previous Uniform Crime Reports showing rifles were used in relatively few murders each year.
The FBI lumps all rifles together into a single category and does not break down how many murders were committed with any particular model of rifle. That means AR-15s and AK-47s are included in the overall number of rifle murders.

Yet the Media will never report the decline in murders and murders using rifles. PEOPLE using Rifles account for a few hundred deaths a year. Yet the Media and Democrats want to ban and confiscate rifles first, then all semi auto firearms next, then will go after the rest until only the law abiding is totally disarmed.

Republicans universally believe that if they would only cooperate and make nice with democrats, people will like them and the democrats will reciprocate.
Universally, except for Trump. As a novice politician, he COMPLETELY understands that the democrats will give no quarter to the cooperative Republicans, and will continue to work towards their destruction.
When will the rank and file GOP get their head out of their ass and see this?

I’m done with Republicans too. But when it comes to a binary choice on Election Day, if we conservatives sit out, we effectively give the keys of the kingdom to far left radicals.
Republicans know that, and take advantage of that. I hate it, but I won’t sit out just on principle.

Absolutely. I'm not going to not vote for them. I'm just not going to belong to the party anymore, or send them any money, or defend them as the "good guys". They are no longer the good guys; they are now the lesser of two evils. There are some exceptions, but most of them are not proving to stand behind what they claim are their principles.

Just look at the lack of outward support for Trump. They fail to see that their political future depends on very large part on Trump being re-elected. If he fails in 2020, it will be a bloodbath in both chambers of Congress.

Yes, I have a hard time "identifying" as a Republican these days. There aren't many that have any backbone, nor do they even attempt to do the things they say the stand for. Plus, many hate Trump because he's not part of their little Establishment Club.

No, they don't. I say that as someone looking from the outside. I have not been registered as a Republican for quite a while now.
Republicans don't seem to really have a plan, but making nice with the Democrats is certainly not part of whatever they're doing.
Neither party gets me excited, I just view Republicans as the less destructive of the two. Trump included.
