Title: Cop gone wild claims she was “groomed”
Post by: Rush on March 05, 2023, 11:30:39 AM
I’m sorry.  This is going way too far.  You can’t hold men responsible for your own “vulnerable” mental state just because they keep asking you for sex and you finally give in.  Now that she’s been fired and made an international laughing stock all of a sudden none of it is her fault.

Her affair with Powell sounds like if anything it damaged him more than her, like he felt manipulated by her. Don’t get me wrong he’s not innocent in this, but she’s certainly no innocent victim herself.  You can’t whore yourself around like that for months and then claim you had no agency of your own when you were a grown ass woman.  Nobody raped her.  They respected her “no” when she said it.  That’s it, end of story.  You don’t “groom” adult women like a pedo would a five year old.  It’s not the same at all and it is quite offensive for adult women to co-opt that term when for whatever reason they allow men to talk them into sex and then happen to regret it later.

I see no claim that her job was threatened.  She admits she was messed up in the head because of marital problems which left her “vulnerable” to these men’s advances.  Okay fine, that does not absolve you of responsibility for your decision to respond to them, and anyway, you already had an “open” marriage so your baseline morality is infidelity in the first place, long before these officers came along.  Now you want to drag them through court looking for a payout I imagine.

Today, a popular attitude, exacerbated by the Covid Scam, is "It's never my fault, and anything goes".  These people refuse to be held accountable or hold themselves accountable.  The first thing I do when I f*ck up is look in the mirror and say "it is nobody's fault but YOUR OWN".  No, I am not perfect and on occasion have played the blame game in my head, only to realize, yeah, you were weak, lazy, stupid, etc...

A popular theme being played out by the unaccountable since the 1960s is irresponsible and damaging to society.  Look at most of our politicians.  Nver held accountable, never admit they were wrong and never admit to failure.

Agreed.  I have heard since that she is bipolar, used to be called “manic-depressive”, which was a much better term because it more accurately illustrates the process.  In the manic phase they will take normal behavior to extremes.  It totally explains the excessive sexual behavior.  In a normal person with marital problems maybe you’d have an affair or a couple one night stands but she took it way too far.  In her defense, once the men realized she was “open for business” they circled like sharks.  But that is innate male biology - although in this case the department, and those men, failed to implement moral and social constraints on their behavior.  So they do share the blame.  A good lesson for all workplaces.

Nevertheless she could blame her own mental illness and take responsibility but no, she still chooses to put it all on the men.  If she were under the right treatment these symptoms can be controlled but apparently she wasn’t but we don’t know if she had been diagnosed and was under the care of a psychiatrist or not.  Sometimes these people will stop their meds and go off the rails.

She had had multiple car crashes, and wasn’t cut out to be a cop in the first place.  This also fits with bipolar.  I’m inclined to be more sympathetic to her now, bipolar is a devastating disease she didn’t ask for.  However the current social ideology about all men are toxic and women are always victims and never at fault is allowing her to attack these men legally without putting the blame where it originates: on herself albeit because of a mental disorder.

Hey hey, that’s Will Smith’s next wife you’re talking about, ma’am.

Disagree that that is normal.

Yes, bipolar is tough. I know a couple people with it, one who keeps it firmly under control and functions normally and one who won’t admit they have it. The non-admitting one blames everything and everyone for his own failure to make good life choices.

Disagree that that is normal.

I mean normal in the sense of not having a serious psychiatric disorder.  If by normal you mean typical or average then I agree, most people probably don’t react to marital strife by defaulting to infidelity.  It certainly isn’t normal in the sense of being a functional or good thing.

I know someone with it like your first example. She was raised right by her parents, who instilled morals and responsibility into their children.  When she’s on her meds she’s wonderful, a more loving, hard working, big hearted person you’ll never meet.  Off her meds anything can happen, but she has a large extended family who all look out for her and a dedicated loving husband who has the strength to keep her in line.
