Whenever anyone trouts out 'separation of church and state' when speaking about a candidate who is not a muslim that discussion is over for me - it represents such a monumental lack of critical thinking or comprehension of the founding as to be the debate equivalent of jumping the shark - there is simply no point in continuing with someone without a foundation in logic and history.

I literally lose all respect for anyone who does that on whatever subject they do it with.

Its been a canard for years by the left/Dems/Government/media/education cabal.  They have used that lie to remove religious symbols all over the U.S.  Its OK if the people that respected those symbols are offended.

It's clearly an effort by progressives to culturally amend the First Amendment to mean Freedom FROM Religion.  Kristin obviously knows this.

Congrats to the gentleman with the moniker of the second best Bond film ever.
First best being Goldfinger?

You got it!!!

Although I like Dr. No also.

While Sean Connery was the best Bond, one of my favorites is For Your Eyes Only. There is a lot of eye candy in that one.

Whichever one that would be, it would not be Cruz who has no understanding of the separation of church and state.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

What specific language do you feel Cruz has violated, or shown a lack of comprehension?

Kristin, I'm sorry if you misread the syllabus in law school and you thought your C-law class section on the First Amendment read "Freedom From Religion."

Gimp, its getting to that point.  We are going to go either way this time.  Either an attempt to bring this country back to what it truly means, or a continuation of the Obama march towards fasco-communism where PC rules, and we fear our own government, media, and educational systems.  This is truly the tipping point.  Interesting times my friends.  Interesting times.

To me Hillary, and Bernie are the same.  One is an old male communist/totalitarian, the other an old female communist/totalitarian.

As I asked Kristin in a different thread, who, among the 3 dems and 10 or so Repubs do you believe would faithfully:

"... the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

There is only ONE Constitutionalist running. Sad, but true.

What seems to be the typical response over here:

"Oh yeah? You just can't take a humorous and clever response! <insert homophobic slander>"

Then:

"<high five each other> Yeah! You told him!"

Ya'll give yourself so much credit for being the open minded ones who are all about open discussion and all sides of an argument? Then when anybody points out faults in your persona you start slinging homophobic trash.

Again I say that none of you would sling this trash in person. Hide behind your keyboards.

I think you have a far superior view of what constitutes clever and/or humorous, but that's what makes a world.
Relax, take off your high hat, stop attacking people just because you're bored, lonely, or gagging for more attention, and set awhile.
If we haven't skewered your favorite sacred cow, stick around, we promise to get to it.

The problem is that Bryan is his own sacred cow, and that we don't think he's the smartest or funniest guy in the room like they do at POA. That is just entirely unacceptable because ... the internet.

Marco Rubio is a classic D.C. insider, pretending to be an outsider, playing an insider's game the whole time.

He is the only candidate who is endorsing an Article V Convention of the States, however.

Trump probably thinks Article V is a section in the New York Times.

Spin Zone / Re: What were they thinking?
« on: January 18, 2016, 08:50:18 AM »

Back around the '60's, I remember reading about how automation was going to change the world.

With all the automation going on, people were going to have so much free time they would be able to pursue their favorite leisure activities.  By then, washing machines were old hat.  Dishwashers were starting to become common.  Factories were starting to become more automated.  computers were in the early stages.  Imaginations ran wild with other tasks that machines would perform for man.

Magazines had pictures of families having picnics in the park on weekdays because the father only had to work a few hours in the morning.  Pictures of artists at their canvass's exclaimed that people would have time to pursue the arts.  There were pictures of people traveling to exotic destinations on their many and long vacation days.

But what were they thinking?  Who was going to support all these people in their leisure activities if they weren't being productive because there was no work for them to perform?

The time has now come that machines are putting large numbers of people out of work.  Rather than free time, this has resulted in unemployment and poverty.  So the dreamers are again dreaming that the "government" will support them.  Free tuition, Free medical care, Free energy etc.  But again, what are they thinking?  Who do they think is going to pay for all this?

John, I watched the Democrat debate last night, and I think they've got that covered. I heard that any combination of "the rich," "the wealthy," "the Republicans," or "Wall Street" will be asked to "pay their fair share."  So no worries.

My CFII got me about 10 hours of actual IMC before my check ride.  He had me fly to an airport and shoot approaches when we knew it was below minimums so I could see what "below minimums" really meant.

And I did a lot of training at night, which was much more realistic than daytime under the hood.

Good luck to you.

So the creepy-stalker ex-girlfriend who shows up at the new girlfriends' house all pissy and bitchy is accusing someone else of being like a lovesick ex-boyfriend.

That is hilarious, truly grade A hypocrisy right there.

Thanks for the laugh.

When I take my English Labs out for a walk, especially on a new trail or around a lake, they insist on pissing on every tree, mailbox and lamp post they can find. My wife calls that Doggie Facebook.

Methinks SixPapaCharlie just couldn't stay away from pissing on our mailbox, and of course being the non-voting political novice that he is, thought that he would really get under our skin by using the term "Tea Party" in his screen name.

« on: January 09, 2016, 10:52:43 PM »
How dare the POTUS insult this woman by suggesting her safety may not be improved by having a weapon in her home, or on her person.  That right was codified into our laws with the 2nd amendment and the only vote he or anyone else should have on the matter is a full repeal of the amendment.  I wonder if his politics on this matter would be altered if he were brutally violated for a couple hours as a young college student?

The stupidity of passing more laws or issuing more executive orders when criminals by definition don't follow laws should demonstrate to all that this nonsense has NOTHING to do with controlling guns.  It's about controlling us.  Period.

I'll wager that segment of the goat ropin' "town hall meeting" last night sold more NRA memberships among women than any other act in our history.

Joe, Joe, Joe.  Don't you know that the rape victim's biggest mistake is not putting her faith and trust and security 100% into the arms of FedGov?

We should always worry. Guns in the hands of the populace has always been the rival of big, central government. Our central government will never stop trying to eliminate our gun ownership no matter who is in the White House.

I believe even the Supremes erred in Heller by allowing "some" (undefined) level of restrictions.

That is the joy of Public Sector unions. Similar stories were discovered with Wisconsin correctional officers. A Prison guard calls in sick for his shift, is miraculously feeling better and works the next shift, and gets paid for 16 hours with the second shift being at overtime rates.

And Scott Walker was the devil for restricting public sector unions.

You hurt my feelings with that post you bastard.

LOL!  Sorry!  Evidently trying NOT to offend someone is offensive!   ;D

I know you were kidding, btw.

I'm sensing you two have some microaggressions that you need to address.

Ummm... That's a painting, not a photograph.

You serious?! Wow,  fooled me!

While it's true that 200+ years ago religion seems to have played a bigger role in everyday life for people, the truth is today the consequences of world leaders actions is far more dire than it was back then. Back then, if a king or president decided to go to war based on prayer, the worst that could happen is that leader could lose his position, or his government, or his country, but today a bad decision to go to war could cost us all of humanity.

The cold war has been over so long, that people seem to think extinction by nuclear war is a thing of the past. It is still a very real and present danger. It is actually pretty scary how limited an exchange has to be to end our time on this planet.

I feel sorry for people who believe they are the highest power in the Universe.

And that's the point. The people who think that prayer provides some magic link to God's decision tree and insight into His mind either doesn't understand prayer, or doesn't engage in it often enough.
