Title: We need to reign in Tech/Social Media from censoring content
Post by: Anthony on July 29, 2020, 03:45:50 AM
This is beyond ridiculous.  Maybe we need to go after the execs of these Tech giants personally through the courts.  These companies are now so large, monopolistic and Leftist they can sway elections illegally.

Quote
A few days after the 2016 election, at an internal meeting later leaked to Breitbart News, top Google executives, including Sundar Pichai, Sergey Brin, and Kent Walker, lamented President Trump’s victory, comparing Trump voters to “extremists” and discussing their desire to make Trump’s election and the populist movement a “blip” in history.

True to their word, four years later, Google is deliberately working to interfere with the reelection of Trump in 2020.

There are several ways in which Google is interfering in the 2020 election, but this article will focus primarily on one of them: political search bias.

Google Has Been Purging Breitbart Content from Search Results Since the 2016 Election

Search visibility is a key industry measure of how findable a publisher’s content is in Google search. New data shows that Google has suppressed Breitbart’s search visibility by 99.7 percent since 2016.

Try googling comments made by clinton and obama when they visited Mt Rushmore.

Then try googling comments about President Trump's visit.

Watch Tucker Carlson from last night.

I’m a conservative with libertarian leanings, and I’m hesitant to support government interference in commerce, but these tech giants have become media monopolies which are protected by the US Government. Maybe an oligopoly is a better term.

We used to break up monopolies. Remember renting phones from Ma Bell?  Remember paying premiums for interstate vs intrastate phone calls?

I think it’s time for the Justice Department to either break up this cabal, or make them operate under the rules of that other media used to be required to  follow, for whatever that’s worth.

Agreed.

Look at it this way, if these were conservative outlets that were censoring liberal articles, videos and web searches the democrats would be demanding hearings and demanding to break them up.

If the censoring is the issue, just modify section 203 (is that right?) and not allow them to censor.

Agree.  As you know, I call myself a Conservatarian, and don't like government intervention either.  However, this has become an anti Trust issue as you indicate.  This as if AT&T (Ma Bell) were to break in on your phone conversation and say that you can't say such and such, or bleep out anything they didn't like.  Then if you don't stop, completely cut off your conversation and maybe stop you from making or receiving future calls.

So, now we have these giant Far Left Radical corporations totally controlling the flow of information and speech and actively trying to swing elections their way.  That is not what should be happening and against anti Trust law.
