Title: let's put a 5 cent deposit on disposable masks
Post by: President-Elect Bob Noel on July 31, 2020, 04:29:50 AM
Around where I live there are a lot of disposable masks just lying on the ground... almost worse than cans and plastic bottles.

Let's put a 5 cent deposit on disposable masks and use the inevitable "revenue" to pay for cleaning up all the rubbish left by the people who can't be bothered to properly dispose of, well, everything.

Look at all the trash, graffiti, property destruction, cost of deploying Police baby sitters, and obstruction of lives and commerce in many of these Democrat cities today.  It is probably hundreds of millions if not more in cost to the taxpayer.  Maybe a "Woke" Tax needs to be levied on individuals and businesses that choose to support the Democrats.  They enabled and promoted this destruction as a protest to Trump in the hopes of getting rid of him.  Let them pay for it.  Companies like Starbucks and Nike should pay a higher percentage tax.

Back when I owned my business, I put ash trays (those big industrial type) and trash cans by the entrance/exit.  It helped a little bit if the person was standing right next to them when they had to dispose of something, but I watched scores of people throw cigarette butts on the ground 10 feet away.  And I was still picking up more trash from the parking lot and grass than I was emptying from the cans.

But I like the idea of deposits on face masks, AND fines if anyone is caught throwing them away.  When I was a kid in Philadelphia, I considered picking up discarded soda bottles for the 2cent refund as my job.  I made good money for a 6 year old and I'm sure it helped with the litter problem.  If they did that today it might help a homeless person buy an occasional bottle of Thunderbird.
