Thanks Eppy.  Actual inflation, to anyone that shops for essential items, buys gasoline, any other energy, including electric can see inflation is at least double what the lying Federal Government, MEDIA and Democrats are telling us. For many items, I think it is higher than that.

When will airplane prices start back down?

When will airplane prices start back down?

Soon I think. I'm starting to see more planes advertised on barnstormers and trade a plane. Some look to me to be sitting longer. More reasonably priced, well resonably priced considered the over-inflated market, are going fast while others are sitting longer. At least my laymans eyes have been noticing.

Interest rates are rising.  The days of cheap easy money are fading.  Add in exorbitant operating cost for fuel and soon insurance increases, and the market will start tanking.

Of course those who bought planes they couldn't really afford to begin with will start dumping them, taking huge losses when they find out they will have to sell for less than they owe.

We are going to be screwed with my mother’s house.  Right now it’s worth a lot and is the bulk of our inheritance but we won’t sell it before she dies and I’m predicting the housing market is going to crash.  Even if it doesn’t, inflation is making the worth of it, and every other asset, shrink.  I’m sick to my stomach seeing what we’ve worked and saved all our lives evaporate.  Biden says Americans are “financially comfortable”.   LIAR.  I will NEVER forgive you people who voted for his ass.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through.  I think that the next two years are going to be increasingly turbulent in finance and in real estate.  Real people are suffering, and the clowns in DC are pretending that everything is just fine.  Things will be just fine for the elite.  Bread and circuses for the masses while the country goes down the shithole.  And I have this nagging feeling that all this is happening just as planned.

I wish I had some encouraging words for you, Rush.  You (and your family) are certainly in my prayers.

Oh we are better off than most people, firmly in the upper half of the middle class.  But that’s just the thing, this economy is now hitting the middle class.  We are fine for now but if it keeps up we will need to adjust our lifestyle downward if we want to not outlive our money.  And we do not have an extravagant lifestyle by any means, we don’t even have an airplane anymore.  I am NOT “comfortable” with it, Joe Biden.  Inflation drives everyone down.  Except the elite just as you say.

I hope we can ride it out for the next couple years and 2024 kicks the insane left out of office and the economy can get strong again.  I worry most for my children and grandchildren.

Thanks for the prayers, we are going through really bad times emotionally and trying to juggle everything.

Just read this.  It seems very appropriate to today's world: "When the rats don’t know they are living in cages, they have no idea they are being raised as food for the snakes."

When will airplane prices start back down?

Personally I think aircraft prices tend to track the stock market. The aircraft price trend charts below are from this article:

What’s the Latest on Aircraft Market Values? (08th April 2022) (https://www.avbuyer.com/articles/market-insight/what-s-the-latest-on-aircraft-market-values-113418)

The S&P 500 chart is from Wikipedia. You'll have to mentally superimpose the correct date ranges between the airplane and stock market charts to see the rough correlation.

That's a very interesting set of charts.  It does appear that aircraft prices, at least at the lower end, tracks pretty closely with the stock market.  I'd love to know the mechanism behind that correlation.  Stocks are pretty liquid, aircraft generally are not.  (Except near the Gulf in hurricane season.)  Neat find!  Thanks!

Someone else many years ago claimed used aircraft prices tended to track the stock market - sadly I don't recall who. Back then I checked some Vref charts and discovered there appeared to be some correlation.

Gas prices have increased >100% literally everywhere.

But don’t worry, the government is on it.

Last week the IRS announced an h crease in the business mileage rate (which many employers use to reimburse their employees for business-related travel from $0.585 to $0.625 per mile.

That’s a whopping 6.8% increase for you democrats who don’t like math.

Everything is so fucked.

Fuel only accounts for part of their cost allowance.
If an average car gets, say, 20 miles/gallon and fuel costs $2.50/gallon then the fuel cost is $0.125/mile. If fuel costs had doubled to $5.00/gallon then they should have increased the allowance by $0.125/mile instead of $0.040/mile. You're out 8.5¢/mile unless you have a car that gets better than about 60 mpg.
