Title: Hannity PLEASE STOP
Post by: Rush on January 03, 2018, 03:33:09 PM
interrupting your guest!!

Oh my God.  He's got this fascinating Iranian guest and he keeps asking him questions and then cutting him off in the middle of the answer. I love Hannity but it drives me nuts when he does this.

Anyhow this guy just restated what I said in the other thread: the radical Islam rulers are a minority, most of the people in Iran are not religious fundamentalists, hate them and want them gone. They've been persecuting and torturing their own citizens for over two decades.

And he said that the uprising is exceeding what he expected and alluded to Trump's promise to support the Iranian people against the Mullahs, UNLIKE OBAMA who basically supported the Mullah's by sending them cash.

I wonder if it's going to really happen this time, and if so, if the very fact Trump is in the White House and the whole damn world can see Trump isn't going to cow tow to Iran government, unlike Obama, is it possible that is what's giving these people the courage to do this?  They all risk a horrible death by protesting.

Wow that guy was impressive. I didn't catch his name. I got chills down my spine when he described his time in prison. They tortured him and broke many bones and put him in solitary confinement with white light all the time you couldn't sleep and hannity asked how did you get through it? He said I kept thinking of the future and "Freedom isn't free."

He said the old army will stand behind the protestors, the regime and the revolutionary guard are in big trouble but what Trump and America can do is make sure they can get satellite internet in all of Iran and sanction OIL and MONEY so the regime can't fight back. Wow I have every faith Trump will do that as opposed to Obama in 2009.

He said they have already drafted their constitution for a democratic government.

I think this time it's going to happen!

Suspect we have vastly differing opinions of Hannity  ;) ... but that is annoying no matter who is the interviewer.

Anyhow this guy just restated what I said in the other thread: the radical Islam rulers are a minority, most of the people in Iran are not religious fundamentalists, hate them and want them gone. They've been persecuting and torturing their own citizens for over two decades.

Do believe that the ruling class in Iran is doomed, just when is hard to predict.  For the most part, I'd agree with your friend is correct in that general populace isn't that enamored of a true, strict Islamic state.

And he said that the uprising is exceeding what he expected and alluded to Trump's promise to support the Iranian people against the Mullahs, UNLIKE OBAMA who basically supported the Mullah's by sending them cash.

As to the "sending them cash", are you referring to the infamous $400MM transfer?

http://fortune.com/2016/08/05/money-america-iran/

Certainly looked bad, and maybe there was justification for the US to keep the money, but is was their's to begin with.

I'll reserve judgment on the Presidents response to the protests.  Personally think he should be very careful in that. Doubt if any of the protesters care much about what we think.  You are correct that they are taking a huge personal risk.

Hannity is unwatchable. I liked him when he partnered with Colmes, but since he got his own show he thinks everyone just wants to listen to him.  Cutting off your guests so you can say some canned, rehearsed responses got old real fast.

His radio show is worse.

The interrupting thing is an illness. When I used to watch Chris Matthews, I couldn't continue watching because he'd never let a guest finish. I also can't stand how pundits constantly preface their statements with "look" or "listen", as if to demand our attention for the genius they're about to spew forth. Yuck.

I've essentially stopped watching these types of shows. I get my news lately from my Google news feed, seeking it out specifically on the internet, and NPR on my morning and evening commute.

It does seem to affect nearly all of them. O'Reilly was the worst, I quit watching him because of it. I understand they need to watch the time and break for advertising but it seems their agenda is to get in their pre-determined questions or points and sometimes that's fine. But when you have a guest that is making amazingly great points and stating all kinds of new and interesting information you would think the host would be able to detect this and STFU for 60 seconds.

You realize you are limiting yourself to information vetted and spun toward only one side of a spectrum, right? Or do you check out other sources?

Google admits to its left-controlling algorithms and biased search results, and continues them still. We stopped donating to NPR after years of doing so, and when they called to ask why, and we told the young man about several very biased interviews we had heard, he sighed and said, "I know what you mean."

It is imperative to look at all sides of an issue. If more Americans did that, we would have a lot less antagonism and would accomplish a lot more of the people's business.

I realize I primarily gather news events from sources that are center and left. But don't worry, I seek out alternate opinions when I research a story, and I get plenty of the right's views right here.  ;)

You gotta admit, Asechrest certainly exposes himself to opposing views just by participating on Pilot Spin.

Look, asechrest.  You’re right. That drives me crazy. And it seems it’s always those who are speaking in the political realm, and think they know more than anyone else.  I take it as a sign of a very weak argument.

Agree about the interruptions. As Rush said, I get all involved in hearing the guest's reply and then ZAP!

The worst I ever heard, though, was Biden during his debate with Ryan.

Interrupting 82 times in a 90-minute debate? I kept standing up and shouting at Biden on my TV screen.

The only show like that that I watch is Tucker Carlson’s show. He seems to be doing it the right way, without the massive ego of the others.

Which are from the center?

It’s their only defense!  Do you think democrats can win a debate on the merits of their arguments?

I sometimes watch The Five, and also Tucker.  That's about it for Fox.  Trish Regan, and Molly Line from Fox Business are just smoking hot though!

Which are from the center?

Right now my Google news feed has articles from BBC News, AP News, Fox News (four times), Business Insider, The Hill, among others. On the way back from my business lunch meeting, NPR had a program about immigration, with guests vehemently representing both sides, and wherein I learned a new phrase - "chain immigration".
