Why would anybody fast for Ted Cruz? Even if you are a Cruz supporter, why would you do that? What purpose would it serve? What a wacky, stupid idea.

I fast for Lent, not for Cruz.
That being said, it wouldn't hurt me to fast more often. ;)

You would think the Cruz campaign would distance themselves from Beck as he just gets loonier and loonier.

This is going to actually be important soon.
Without the adult supervision he received from Fox News management, Beck does occasionally go off the deep end and these shenanigans will damage the Cruz capaign as the media and the eventual Democrat Candidate (my put is Hillary or Biden at this point, Biden if and only if Hillary faces an indictment) will use this to show how 'out of the mainstream' Cruz and his 'supporters' are.
Cruz is doing himself no favors by not clearly separating himself from this stuff. Were it not for the unique position Trump occupies as a self-made candidate (e.g., not made by the media or party establishment) he would need to similarly separate himself from Alex Jones but so far it is not as important for him - at least not yet (I don't believe it will help him in the long run).

I look back and remember the Obama Re-election campaign putting out ads calling for women to vote with their lady parts. That was (Or should have been, but progressive women stopped thinking a long time ago) a lot more offensive than a man calling for a practice that was and is, biblical and accepted, as opposed to sexist, and demeaning to women.
