Title: Trump's Support
Post by: acrogimp on March 06, 2016, 06:28:01 PM
A few interesting recent articles that while glaringly almost comically biased in some places with respect to the Left-Media caricature of the GOP as a bunch of racist homophobic rubes, it appears that at least some folks are starting to get it - and it sounds a lot like what a few of us have been saying - support for Trump is not about ideology in the classic Conservative vs Liberal sense, or in the Republican vs Democrat sense.  This does not mean it is without principles, only that it is not the 'conventional' set of principles we usually talk about.

I have never found the progressive media to be the least bit interested in facts when a good rant against conservatives will do, instead.

I know, right?  I LOL'd but only because the whole GOP=racist/homophobe/rube shtick rolls off my back like water off a duck.

I did find that even the Leftmedia is slowly backing into an understanding that Trump is a symptom not a cause, they misattribute it partly based on their own biases but they do understand the general feeling of abandonment from both parties that is driving a substantial amount of Trump's support in the electorate so far.

What makes you think the Leftmedia is showing such insight?  I suspect them of either masquerading as neutral or just being silent, in order to cover up Trump's fatal flaws so Hillary can lacerate him as the nominee.

They did the same with McCain as an example.

During the primaries, McCain received press coverage that could charitably be described as "fawning", but the moment he locked up the nomination, he was eviscerated by the same press that heaped praise on him before.

No, read the articles, they are most definitely not giving Trump a pass, far from it - same old tropes as always.  BUT they do recognize that Trump is benefiting from a real and widespread sentiment of abandonment from both sides of the aisle, they get that part right but they cannot help themselves with respect to mischaracterizing the issues for those of us on the Right as anything more than being angry white racist homophobic rubes.

That is all I was commenting on, that some in the media are beginning to get the nature of the support Trump enjoys and it is not blind stupidity, it is not stick it to the man - it is I am here, I have supported you for decades and you keep shitting in my Cheerios and telling me I should like it after I give you power.
