One way to help solve that is to grandfather in sitting politicians, or at least grant those sitting politicians a longer term before they get forced out. That might buy a few votes, especially from those that only expect to hold office for a just a few more terms. It is not a good compromise, but it heads us in the right direction.

They won't buy it.
Power is derived from seniority in office. Take away that aspect and the power base can shift. They know this.
This is yet another reason for an Article V convention.

An Article V Convention is the ONLY way this can get done. Same with a balanced budget amendment. Congress will not yield its power willingly.
