Prop Governor is a likely culprit.

You LOVE Petroleum?  That's just plain weird.

I love some of the things petroleum products can do for me, or provide for me, but I have no love for or attachment to petroleum itself.

Petroleum underlies our entire economy and civilization.

When I flew at a large regional they often would defer one pack on a certain model jet that the remaining pack just could not cool the plane, especially if it was heat soaked. I refused the plane many times despite pressure to take it. Young Capts and wimpy Capts would take it and the poor passengers suffered.

As for ground AC at the gate they often didn’t work very well trying to cool a hot plane on a hot ramp in the southeast. It’s frustrating for the crew trying to do the right thing but management only cares about getting that flight moving. Some things apparently don’t change.

If you think about it a bit, you can understand why the move to Climate Change. It's the only way they can attack oil anymore since the truth was learned about how much oil we actually have.

Hollywood has made itself irrelevant. It used to be the stuff deams were made of, like that great line in The Maltese Falcon, a real movie. Now, it's just a frigging joke.

I could be a Hollywood  writer. Take an old movie, make the main character a different sex or color. Make the supporting characters all trans, gay, or from repressed background or race . Take the plot, remove all the good stuff, and put in a bunch of woke, social justice issues. Do I have the job?

Interesting.   You don’t like petroleum, but you enjoy using its products recreationally.

I don't know anyone that is resisting new, cleaner forms of energy but the conversion needs to be MARKET DRIVEN not government mandates and COST needs to be the same or cheaper adjusted for inflation of course.   ::)

Cost is the key issue. Without fossil fuel, hundreds of millions are left in poverty and prevented from modernizing.  The poor countries are crippled by “clean” policies such as world banks refusing to loan them money to build coal plants and instead loaning them money to build inefficient expensive (per kw) solar farms and windmills. These are countries brimming with fossil fuels under their feet but aren’t being allowed to tap them.  Meanwhile the people are still cooking with dung. The leading cause of air pollution disease and death is open cooking fires. The fastest way to pull them out of poverty is to get them cheap electricity and that means coal and gas.  Once they have a decent standard of living they begin to care about the environment and will migrate to more environmentally friendly options.

Everyone knows that.
The issues are being worked on feverishly.
The holdup is political, not technical or logistics.
But hydro will be playing less and less of a role.  Hydro power is generally more environmentally devastating than solar, and maybe even wind.

I have no problem with going totally renewable and nuclear, as long as it is done in an economically prudent manner.  And it can be done.
Shutting down coal mines and putting the miners on welfare is not economically viable.  Neither is retraining coal miners to be programmers, except for a very few.
Everyone knows that?  Jennifer Granholm said the US Army is going to be fully electric vehicles by 2030.  Bull shit everyone knows that.

And it is completely impossible to be totally renewable.  Fossil fuels will continue to be required to power engines, make plastics and other petroleum products, etc etc etc.

I know thread drift, right. I really don't think men and women are meant to coexist or at least cohabitate.
To bring it back to topic, liberal men and women are mentally ill and should not be allowed to vote. Not joking.

Correction:  women bring up things they thought you said or did
Oh, you mean like, “I’m not going to learn to fly,” and then walking out one evening saying you’re going to ground school? Or “I’m not going to buy a plane, but rent,” and then saying you have an appointment with a guy at the airport to test fly his plane, and then buy it?

Many, if not most women are. I've had wives bring up things I said or did SEVERAL years in the past during arguments as tools to use against me. Always very trivial crap. Drives me nuts. So I stand by my statement.
Oh, cry me a river. Men are as bad or worse. My brother can’t let go of childhood stuff, and for years he froze me at 16 or so and couldn’t see that I had grown past all that and changed totally. Kept bringing up this or that from childhood to confirm his calcified opinion of me. My husband is just in the past few years really being able to see me for who I am NOW and not some frozen version of my earlier self. And THAT has taken outright declarations with me pointing out WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I DID OR SAID SOMETHING LIKE THAT? Literally he tried to avoid the answer. TWENTY YEARS!!!

Splinter, plank, Anthony.

I wonder where we would be if not for the MIC.  I guess we could have put all that money into social programs and everyone would be happy as a clam.

I’ve said it before:  We need the MIC.  But we don’t need to feed it the blood of endless foreign wars.  Excuse me, “police actions”.  Or whatever the hell we’re calling them these days.

We only need to maintain a strong, ready, trained and practiced force.  But the MIC got greedy. Much like the drug companies. We need drug companies. They come up with life saving stuff. But they got completely out of hand with vaccines.

Notice that this seems to happen when government and public money gets involved. This is because the money comes from the taxpayer and we have no say over it. This removes the natural free market forces that would ordinarily limit corporate growth and greed. It is another way to funnel money from the middle and working class up to the elite.

In the past year since the war started, there have been two or three attempts to broker peace in the Ukraine conflict.  All were opposed by Biden.

Justify it all you want, but the fact remains we are dumping massive amounts of money, with no accountability, into Ukraine.  If we had a leader in this country, instead of throwing money into a conflict which doesn’t concern us, that leader would be forming a coalition with other world leaders to bring the fighting to a stop.  No one leader can do it.
