for those of us without twitter accounts, how about a summary?

The first was an airline commercial advertising its commitment to diversity and inclusion.  Passengers are being seated while it’s announced that the captain is a “three foot transgender pansexual Native American man who identifies as a six foot tall Korean woman” whose epilepsy is triggered by the flashing cockpit lights. The flight ends predictably.

The second is Tyler Fischer (a comedian) stranded in San Francisco for real, but he’s walking through the terminal bitching about how they had to deplane because the engine wouldn’t start and now he’s going to miss his performances and he’s giving information about rescheduling them, but then says as he was exiting he peeked in the cockpit and saw the pilot was a woman, so wondered if there was a surgeon on board that could quick do a sexual transition and turn her into a man so they can take off.

Then he ranted about wheels flying off airplanes and doors popping out and fat people getting two seats. So he says they need to put fat people in a row with a door so when it pops off the fat person plugs it so the plane can still fly.

Apparently Lara Trump is now co-chair of the RNC. Says election integrity will be their priority.

I just did a quit net search for some history of U.S. immigration laws. Didn't bother with the wikipedia entry. Did find a "brief" history at the Cato Institute (a libertarian site):
https://www.cato.org/policy-analysis/brief-history-us-immigration-policy-colonial-period-present-day#conclusion
It covers the main changes in laws from pre-colonial times up to the beginning of Biden's administration. It seemed a long read and I got to about the 1950s before skipping to the end. I'll go back and read the skipped portion later.

Anyhoo, it seems that immigration laws changed with shifts in wind direction. Cultural fears and prejudices often shaped the laws, other times economic needs and desires. For example, if I understand correctly, Mexican migrants and immigrants were sometimes encouraged, sometimes not - so deported, sometimes both actions happening at the same time. The latter I think was when the Bracero Program and Operation Wetback were operating: "Some illegal immigrants took “a walk‐around the statute” to gain a bracero worker visa—a process where they were driven down to the Mexican border by the INS or Border Patrol and made to take one step across the border and then immediately reenter the United States legally with a bracero work visa."

The article seems to conclude current immigration laws are an inconsistent patchwork of past laws in need of correction by congress.

My friend is most focused on the fiscal aspect of Government. He is now convinced, as am I, that there is no saving the country and it will soon collapse.

There is no stomach in D.C. for fiscal responsibility. Budgets are not passed anymore and we just cruise from CR to CR that is passed at the last minute in the dead of night with tons of spending crammed in it and the President will never veto it.

I've always wondered how we got to people needing 3500+ sq ft houses. We've never had anything more than 1,500 sq ft.

I need 4000'. 2 adults +2 little dogs.

An update.  My CFII is working on clearing out some primary students and I'm working on clearing out my schedule.  I feel that flying with the CFII only once or so a week isn't helpful to rapid progress so we're delaying until mid-April.  Twice a week was good, but there were too many days canceled due to weather.  So now we'll fly three times a week on a regular schedule until done.  In the meantime I'll focus on precision flying, ATC communications (for real), and all that.

Spin Zone / I HAVE A PLAN TO DESTROY AMERICA
« on: February 27, 2024, 07:00:43 PM »

RICHARD D. LAMM, 2005

If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"

"Here is how they do it," Lamm said: First to destroy America, "Turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way: 'The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans."

Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, "Invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.

Third, "We could make the United States a 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: 'The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved! Not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.'"

Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."

"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school."

"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population."

"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity! Unity is what it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshiped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic Games.

A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to over come two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell.

"E. Pluribus Unum" — From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."

"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits ~ make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'x! xenophobes' halt discussion and debate."

"Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."

Spin Zone / Re: Tulsi vs Nikki
« on: February 27, 2024, 05:39:56 AM »
No one is perfect. 2nd amendment absolutists are rare.  Trump himself has been for some gun control.  Tulsi has shifted to the right over time and it’s been gradual, which inclines me to believe it’s sincere, not just a lie made up to try to fool us.

Here are some reasons I think that:

She has come to see the federal government as an out of control tyranny, (duh!) and the DC bubble completely disconnected from the people, and hence has begun to understand the eventual possible need for the people to be armed enough to check a tyrannical government.  She has verbally expressed this, that gun rights are not simply for individual self defense.

Back in her younger days, isolated on that little island off in the Pacific, she was pretty focused on local environmental issues, hence a Democrat, and like many young people drawn toward liberalism.  But with time and refocusing on broader issues, she has moved away from progressivism, again, like many of us, as we get older and wiser. I believe we might give her the benefit of doubt.

Ability to avoid WW3 might be a priority in picking the VP. She is against the U.S. interfering in conflicts overseas, while being for defending us against attack at home.  She is also against the far left woke takeover.  She is FOR paper ballots and election security.

So while we must be wary and watch her on the 2nd Amendment issue, there is a good chance she is experiencing genuine growth, which if true is a good sign, a sign of open mindedness, intelligence, willingness to admit when she is wrong, and so forth.

You have to listen to her extensively and then get a gut feel for if she is sincere in her change of heart. So far I tend to think she is.  But I’ll be watching her carefully while remaining “guardedly optimistic”.

I still have not seen statistics showing the prevalence of pulmonary embolisms or other blood clots when comparing:

People that received the vaccine but never contracted the disease.
People that received the vaccine any yet still contracted the disease.
People that did NOT receive the vaccine and did NOT contract the disease
People that did NOT receive the vaccine and DID contract the disease.
Exactly right.  I've not seen proper studies.  The increase in what we're seeing might be that it's being reported more now, and was historically never reported at all.  But I don't trust that the studies HAVE been done and the medical peer reviewers reject the studies for publication, the MSM is not reporting it as it goes against the narrative (profit), and anyone who dares to publish such a study is clearly a white supremacist racist transphobe.

Now this,  it will be a very interesting year wonder what is next.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/rnc-chair-ronna-mcdaniel-resign-super-tuesday-reports

I am sick of being called “far right”!  Just because I wanted to replace Ronna McDaniel?  And because I like Trump because he lowered my taxes, made the U.S. energy independent and actually defended our border?

This is Fox News, supposedly on my side, but a traitor. Going along with the left calling anyone not on the left “far right”.

Screwing around with language.  You don’t want to cut a little boy’s dick off because he picked up a doll once?  You’re “transphobic”.  You think Hamas are an evil terrorist group? You’re “Islamophobic”.  You think we should abide by the U.S. Constitution?  You’re a “domestic extremist”. You don’t want to allow millions of illegal aliens to overrun the country?  You’re “anti-immigration” - a lie

All of the above makes me a normal American. It’s the radical left agenda that’s extreme, and mentally sick, and they’ve worked it into the culture through a corrupt media of which Fox is as bad as the rest.
