"I don’t oppose Trump because I want to protect the Washington cartel. I oppose him because he is the Washington cartel. You think Republicans have broken your hearts. Wait till you get a load of what this guy would do.
"That’s just it, though: I’m talking about what Trump would do. He hasn’t done it yet. We anti-Trump forces continue to show, eight ways to Sunday, that there is no reason to believe Trump’s outlandish promises — indeed, that what he says at 8 a.m. is apt to change by 8 p.m., and at neither time resemble his campaign’s position papers. But since he hasn’t yet had the chance to do anything horrible, his backers want to know how come we’re so whipped up about the guy who might screw them but so indulgent of the guys who have screwed them?
"It’s a fair question. But the answer is the candidate who actually walks the walk. There’s already been enough talking, and way too much dealing. That’s why I’m supporting Ted Cruz."

Boy, when you get a hard-on for someone, you don't let go, do you?
But I'll say it even if Lucifer doesn't:
I don't want a bible thumping president that will be just as big a divider as Obama was. Or maybe worse.
I'm neither religious or anti-religious, although I do identify with the Judaeo-Christian ethics system. But I don't like religious zealots of any stripe.
When I hear Trump say something, then I hear the twisted sound-bites from people like Cruz that totally misrepresent what Trump said, it tends to push me in Trump's corner. Cruz has proven that he is a devious, anything goes, politician. His tactics have been dishonest and disgusting. So since our choice seems to boil down to Trump or Cruz, I pick Trump.
-
I'm not surprised Lucifer doesn't like God. ;D
Cruz is scaring me with the religious rhetoric. He better tone it down, and I am a Christian, but not very religious.

This coming from a RINO who lets Harry Reid walk all over him, and caves to every Obama demand.
McConnell is just a piece. Of the puzzle as to why the GOP is in the mess it's in.

Didn't bother reading the article, did you, Genius? You just read the link name and concluded it came from
McConnell? Now that's some deep thinking right there.
The article was written by Andrew C. McCarthy. He's the Assistant U. S. Attorney who prosecuted the 1993 World Trade Center terrorists, as well as terrorists who bombed the Kenya and Tanzania embassies.

I made it halfway through the article, and realized why only the NJ would publish it on their website.

National Reveiw is the sleaze of the GOP establishment. You should feel right at home reading it so they can dictate your talking points for tomorrow.

From the title of the thread... guess that would be Bernie!
What you see is what you get, IMHO, he is the only candidate that "Walks the Talk" and is the most honest.
Figure 50% of what Bernie wants to do is pie-in-the-sky utopia that ain't happening, another 25% might get some traction and the last 25% is doable.

Riiiigghhtt. Never heard of it, have you?
And I'm sure a GOP establishment publication would support Ted Cruz.

The guy that didn't have a steady paycheck until he was 40, and when he did, he has been sucking off the public teet the rest of his adult life, "walks the walk"? He's been in Congress for 25 years? Why hasn't he passed a bill to improve anything?
Delusional.

I kind of agree with you. He tells us exactly what he is. It may not be good, but it's honest. I'd change your ratios though. 90% pie in the sky utopia, 5% might get some traction, and 5% is doable.

Hee hee, I Googled "Bills Bernie Sanders Passed," and wow, there are three.
http://www.frontpagemag.com/point/261736/bernie-sanders-only-passed-3-bills-2-renamed-post-daniel-greenfield
Also found that he is further left than anyone else in Congress, and has a poor attendance record, missing 4.7% of votes (136 times); the lifetime senate average is 1.7% missed votes.

Actually I had a subscription years ago, but got tired of the "we know better than you" attitude that permeated that rag.

Let's say Cruz is elected, nearly everyone in the Senate hates him. What is he going to get accomplished?
-
The establishment GOP will do what they can to maintain some resemblance of solidarity in the party.
Meanin, they will grudgingly go along with some of the kook, but not all of it.
-
Let's say Cruz is elected, nearly everyone in the Senate hates him. What is he going to get accomplished?
More than what president Hillary will accomplish, which is precisely what will happen if Trump is the nominee.

And, if by some miracle Trump were to overcome his massive polling deficit that he has with Hillary right now, he's "flexible" and would happily "deal" with the Democrats and GOPe by basically doing what they want, all to get the deal done.
Being unmoored to anything resembling a principle makes it easy to make deals.
-
Meh, I'm okay with making deals. Anyone with a bit of experience in negotiations knows that you have to find greater value in the deal.

Meh, I'm okay with making deals. Anyone with a bit of experience in negotiations knows that you have to find greater value in the deal.
However, as Aaron Tippin sang "You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything."
Being "flexible" is not a principle. You have to have some hills you're willing to die upon, or the other side of the negotiation will walk all over you.
-

That's not what he asked. He asked:
Let's say Cruz is elected, nearly everyone in the Senate hates him. What is he going to get accomplished?
That's a very valid point. Without straying off and trying to blame Trump or Hillary, answer the question directly.
