Happy Fourth to you all. Weather permitting, I'll have the family out in our 17' Key West boat in the beautiful waters of the Tampa Bay area, flying the flag of our great country from one of our rod holders. I'll take some pics.

PS to invflatspin - I completed the install of my VHF black box radio and 4', 4.5dB gain VHF Digital-brand antenna. Keys trip the week of the 14th. I'm ridiculously stoked!

I just hope Trump doesn't nominate another traitor like Roberts.

Trump gave into Kim Jung Un and got nothing out of it whatsoever.  Heck, even meeting with the guy was giving into him, its what he's wanted from the get go.  And Trump got nothing more than played.

Did Samantha Bee tell you to say that?

You put the ass in asshole.

My father paid for my education, and when I graduated, I asked him how/when I was to start paying him back. He said you don't pay me, you do it for your children. And if you don't, I'll haunt you from the grave.

And with that and a handshake, it was done. I know what I have to do.

True words, there.

My father sent my three sisters to community college. It was truly affordable. IIRC the tuition cost was around $17 an hour and rose to $23 an hour by the time my younger sister graduated.

He would have sent my brother and me but we couldn’t wait to enlist and take advantage of the GI Bill. Both of us graduated while still in the service and sent ourselves thru graduate school, also on the GI Bill, which offset the brutally low pay we got.

It was a good trade. Low pay, irregular lifestyle, good education when a college degree still meant something.

We dodged a huge bullet with Hillary losing.  That is why the Left is still trying to delegitimize the Trump Admin.  They knew how important this election was, and that is why they are trying everything.  It's like the movie "The Thing".  The alien keeps morphing from Russia, to Stormy Daniels, to obstruction of justice, to illegal funds, etc.

Obama got to appoint two far left supreme court justices, and many lower court judges.  Hillary would have sealed the courts fate, as well as other courts, and agencies.  She was to be the completion of the Fundamental Transformation that Obama couldn't finish.

Quote
WASHINGTON — John Kerry’s bid to save one of his most significant accomplishments as secretary of state took him to New York on a Sunday afternoon two weeks ago, where, more than a year after he left office, he engaged in some unusual shadow diplomacy with a top-ranking Iranian official.

He sat down at the United Nations with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to discuss ways of preserving the pact limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It was the second time in about two months that the two had met to strategize over salvaging a deal they spent years negotiating during the Obama administration, according to a person briefed on the meetings.

With the Iran deal facing its gravest threat since it was signed in 2015, Kerry has been on an aggressive yet stealthy mission to preserve it, using his deep lists of contacts gleaned during his time as the top US diplomat to try to apply pressure on the Trump administration from the outside. President Trump, who has consistently criticized the pact and campaigned in 2016 on scuttling it, faces a May 12 deadline to decide whether to continue abiding by its terms.

So about a year and a half ago we had mouth foaming liberal progressives going on and on about how Gen Flynn violated the Logan Act with no actual proof to back it up.

Yet now we have a former SOS doing exactly that. How is it in the interest of the US for Kerry to be negotiating and attempting to undermine US policy?

 Special Counsel????

When there was an attempted boycott, I made a point to eat there for my first time.  The line was around the block.

The Chik Fil A owners donate to Christian causes with their private money that are against Gay marriage, as is their legal right.  Their restaurants show no evidence of this, nor any religious, or Christian messages.  This enrages the Left.  However, they are OK with big corporations using corporate money to donate and support anti legal gun ownership, Planned Parenthood, Man Made Climate Change, any other Progressive cause, and Democrat politicians.

I rarely eat fast food chains, but Chik Fil A is the best, with the friendliest employees, best service, and good product for fast food.

Boo hoo. Sounds like people who move next to an airport and complain about the noise. They can live elsewhere if representation in
Congress is so important.

If they cared about representation, they would promote getting absorbed by Maryland or Virginia.

What they want is to have that tiny 64 square miles have two senators to disproportionately sway the US Senate to the democrats.

Answer:  no.

Virtue signalling.

We have a spate of signs in yards around here that say "Hate has no home here." Friends refer to the one in their neighborhood as "the hate house." Essentially the sign posters are saying that only their type of hate is acceptable.

Kind of like ... only your take on science is real, Muslim treatment of women and gays is not worth mentioning, Christian businesses don't have rights, borders should be open no matter the dire consequences to legal residents, black lives matter but only outside the womb, and by implication whites are oppressors ...

The holiness spiral is evident. Your desire to feel and believe you are superior is the mechanism by which your party gets its power. It creates the stench of liberalism.

That's great.  We hear of fewer, and fewer of these types of accomplishments.  At least I perceive it that way.  Huge accomplishment for that kid.

We have five that are flying, four of them soloed last year.  I have another that should take his check ride fairly soon.  He is in the NRTOC program and has already been accepted into the Naval Aviator program.  One of our youth soloed in 4.5 hours.

In 2015 EAA 690 launched a Youth Build Program designed to give youth an opportunity to work on aircraft projects and learn about airplanes and aviation as well as how to use tools and construction techniques.

In May of 2016 a young man by the name of Jeremy Welch began attending our build program. Jeremy had a goal of becoming a pilot and he set out a plan to do just that.  His first goal was to solo on his 16th birthday. He missed that one by only two days and soloed on April 1st, 2017, the morning of our chapter pancake breakfast.
Over the next year Jeremy methodically checked off his intermediate goals along the way to his scheduled check ride date of March 30th, 2018, Jeremy's 17th birthday.

I am proud to say that Jeremy has achieved that goal and is the chapter's first Certificated Private Pilot to come out of our build program.  We do want to thank the AeroVentures Flying Club for giving us the opportunity to rent their Cessna 150 for our youth and special thanks to John Post, Fred Huppertz and other CFIs in the club for donating their time and effort to help Jeremy achieve his goal.

The first picture is Jeremy with his parents and John Post after his solo. The second picture is Jeremy along with his DPE after his successful check ride.
