CNN has an article:

"American inflation rose more than expected in August "

but, wait, didn't the clown celebrate no inflation in July?

I'm so confused...

The Sunday 14 August 2022 Boston Globe had a headline:  "Biden turns around Presidency with recent successes that bouy Democrats ahead of midterms"

oy

(nevermind that the clown's approval rating couldn't go anywhere but up...)

at least a little bit... still plenty of people that haven't figured out how covid compares to influenza.

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases_casesper100klast7days

"Beginning July 4, 2022, COVID Data Tracker will discontinue daily data refreshes 7 days per week, and will instead refresh data Monday through Friday. "

maskachusetts hasn't been providing daily updates on the weekends since... hmmmm.... 1 July 2021

that some people are so relieved that gas prices have declined a few cents per gallon in the past few days.

phew.

what a relief.

down a few pennies.

Happy days are here again.

those same people apparently don't remember the price of gas in 2019 and 2020...

there are people (generally libs) that think covid vaccinations are the greatest thing since sliced peanut butter and covid will kill the unvaccinated

there are people (generally people that ain't woke) that think covid vaccinations are the cause of every malady and getting jabbed means you are going to die.

how about we let nature take its course.

If the libs are right, all the unvaccinated will die off and the libs won't have to cheat to win elections

If the "other side" is right, then all the vaccinated people will die off and we won't have to worry about elections, etc.

(yeah, I know, it's not that simple...)

Spin Zone / NVSS getting a "system-wide upgrade"
« on: June 05, 2022, 05:30:47 PM »

"Notice: The National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) will be undergoing a system-wide upgrade starting June 6, 2022. NVSS COVID-19 surveillance webpages and data files will be paused between June 6, 2022 through June 17, 2022. Data updates are expected to resume on June 20, 2022. "

a two week upgrade process?  my, very impressive... very impressive indeed.

I wonder if the "experts" ever heard about running systems in parallel... a technique that has worked successfully for decades.

Spin Zone / Changes to DNC primaries
« on: April 19, 2022, 07:42:10 AM »
from the 19 April 2022 Boston Herald:

begin quote:

DNC leadership voted last week to change the rules and make states apply for an early spot in the lineup, rather than use the traditional order of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

A roster of powerful Democrats in other states argue that both Iowa, which holds a caucus, and New Hampshire, the first primary, are not inclusive enough to earn such a powerful voice in the presidential process.

“This is a powerful resolution of a thoughtful process that is going to be inclusive of all Democrats,” said Massachusetts’ Jim Roosevelt Jr., who co-chairs the Rules and Bylaws Committee.  “Why should two disparate small states that don’t reflect the diversity of this country be the ones that presidential candidates go into their homes?” asked U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan.

According to the resolution, the demographic diversity of the state and the state’s competitiveness in the general election will now play major roles in how states are awarded early lineup spots.

end quote

aside from the obvious comments on the DNC, I have to wonder why the first primary is thought to be so important...

Oh No!  covid cases are "climbing" and "spiking"

how many of those cases are actually symptomatic?

how many of those cases actually have serious symptoms?

The positive test rate is over 5% - oh no!  who is tested and why?

Waaaaaay too many don't understand percentages.
