Interesting analysis making some of my arguments far better than I could.
"Why are Leftists so unreachable by reason? You can point out holes in their arguments but they are unmoved. And some of their claims are entirely out of touch with reality."
John J. Ray (M.A.; Ph.D) of Dissecting Leftism asks and then answers the question. He suggests that "sometimes people need false beliefs to make them happy with themselves and with life. Not everyone can face reality head-on."
Later on in his introduction to another piece he posted, he cites Freud in calling what leftists do "displacement," meaning that, in their minds, their anger is always caused by something outside of themselves, like injustice for example. Leftists do not want to solve problems though, they want to "luxuriate" in them; they need problems to explain their anger.
And finally, he notes that such false beliefs tend to be deeply entrenched. "The Leftist needs his angry beliefs. He cannot afford to let go of them because compared to his needs, logic/reason is a weak force."

Not only do they have a weird need to be constantly offended and angry, the are control freaks and want to force their will on others. This is why they want to ban, remove and confiscate things. Confederate statues, paintings that depict only white people or have Indians and Blacks in them in a historical context, legally owned guns, internal combustion engines, religious symbols, etc.
Instead of just ignoring something like a mature adult would do the Liberal/Progressive (Democrat) must take it away from YOU and everyone else. They are child like, Fascist little dictators. If they don't get what they want all the time they throw a tantrum. We are three years into the tantrum of Hillary LOSING.

Irenaeus has something here, but I still don’t see how we make liberals feel happy about losing their damned illusions.

That makes for some funny imaginary scenarios, where libs are decrying the horribleness of Medicaid for all and insisting that our borders be protected. I suspect Trump has employed this strategy mildly now and again.

Communists (democrats) were all for peace until President Trump worked toward peace.
They were all for jobs until the President improved unemployment numbers by onshoring jobs through his policies.
They HATE whatever they think he is for because the entire party suffers from some weird form of mass delusionalism.

Funny how that works. Now all the Democrats and their supporters are saying the U.S. is "turning its back" on its allies (Syria) and that Trump is letting the Russians "take over the Middle East". So, it's now OK that our sons die in meaningless, foreign Civil Wars and we spend Billions on nation building, or whatever they are calling it now.
Total HYPOCRSIY. Just like when they take G-V's to their Hate Man, Climate Change conferences. The basis of all Progressive (Democrat) though and action is HYPOCRISY.
