They just announced that the Outback Bowl brings $1 billion (with a B) in economic activity. I understand such things generate very significant economic activity, but 1,000 million dollars of activity? That’s a LOT of Paella.
It is a 'b'illion over it's history. 32 years. 1,833,000 people at a little over $500 a head. Tickets, food, hotel, gas, hookers, parking tickets....

My wife did her residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. 2001-2007.
On 9/11, a Muslim doctor was fired after it was found that he was pointing at the twin towers on TV and openly celebrating. This was at the hospital and in front of patients.

« on: December 10, 2018, 07:21:37 PM »Lots of folks employed, its true. How much that's due to his Trumpness versus persistently low energy prices is quite debatable. What isn't debatable is most of the wealth generated is staying in very few hands, not a lot of it is percolating down.
I do not talk to many people about wealth. Part of it is due to the fact that I am not a social butterfly, part is due to the fact that we have some money saved and I do not brag. My wife is frugal. I used to be before I became a pilot (I still spend less than I could).
One set of grandparents had a paid for farm.
My other grandparents had a few hundred thousand in the bank. He worked a union job and grandma was a stay at home mom. They saved like crazy.
We come from savers. That being said, most of our family spend like crazy.
If you spend everything you bring in, you will never have any money or be wealthy.
Pointing out that some people are wealthy and other are not is a cop out.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that the Dems will regroup, hash things over, and try to put a better face on. They have GOT to know, surely by now, that the reason they didn’t do better yesterday is because their own puerile lust for power has for two years been gunned too high, and it literally repulsed people. I imagine they have teams of people scouring WalkAway testimonials to see how they as a party can do better.
