Spin Zone / Re: Will American Jews continue to vote democrat?
« on: March 14, 2019, 02:34:46 PM »
That's probably a good thing.  Sometimes I read some of my old posts and hope nobody else ever read them.  I should never post before my morning coffee, or after 5pm (Happy hours), but I often do anyway.

But I don't think we should be too hard on good people like Azure, or even Asechrest.  Without them, it gets awfully dull around here.  Steingar, on the other hand . . . (just kidding Steingar).
Agreed.

Honest question: why do folks here call the current Democratic Party "communist"?

Communism to me implies that most property, industry, agriculture, etc. are state-owned. The political system is single-party, and those who don't belong to the party are subject to persecution. Intellectuals are forced to conform to what is dictated by government, or otherwise driven into exile or "purged". Basically an iron-fisted totalitarian State. Such as the old USSR was and that we find today in places like China and North Korea.

I don't see even the current far left Dems pushing toward that at all. Someone said they want to turn the US into Norway. I think that's pretty accurate. It's European-style "democratic socialism". I agree that it would be a disaster for this country, but it isn't based on Marxism as far as I'm aware, and it's a long way from Soviet or Chinese style Communism. Scandinavian countries still have multiple political parties and capitalism thrives, albeit under a heavy regulatory burden.

Is all this just hyperbole, or am I missing something?
The promises they are pushing are the promises pushed by the communists when they commenced their revolution.

I hate using memes to make a point, but this one seems very on point.

I don't want to censor anyone, you guys should have figured that out by now.  My point is simply that it is the attention from the Right that's empowering her.  This is one problem that will easily go away if you just ignore it, something Conservatives just don't seem able to do.
You’re wrong and ignorant if that’s what you believe.

She is the de facto spokesperson for the democrat party. I would love for that ignorant bitch to go away, but she won’t. She is covered on an hourly basis by the MSM and leftist cable outlets. There is no escaping her.

Well, a lot of Floridians do live in trailers.  But the rest of us have garages.  Have you ever seen what happens to power tools if left outside in Florida?
I recall a lot of carports abound in the south. But I get it about the equipment.

That must be why, when I lived in Charlotte, a few people died while trying to keep warm by using their charcoal grill inside the house. Can’t let those Weber’s get stolen.

You don't actually keep cars in your garage, do you? I have no room for cars in my 2-"car" garage!
You Floridians don’t even have garages, do you?

I happen to disagree with Trump on this, but I don't find his comments off-the-cuff, uninformed or premature.  He merely has a different opinion than we do, and he has a bigger bully pulpit.

But it's sort of like the debate on autonomous cars.  The technology isn't there yet, but it will be some day.  And there will always be the issue of who do you sue if an autonomous car makes an incorrect decision (kill the pedestrian, or avoid the car coming straight at you?).
The debate is valid though. Just because we can have autonomous cars doesn’t mean we should, or that it’s inevitable.

An autonomous passenger aircraft will never be successful due to human nature of wanting a human in control of things. An elevator can go up and down. An autonomous train at Orlando’s airport goes point to point. Not much room for error. But an autonomous car, or airplane, could literally go anywhere.

Just don’t be walking while black with autonomous cars around, because apparently they can’t see you.

Seems to on first glance, but it appears to me that the first statement is simply stating fact in that technology is taking one unnecessary step further and simpler is better.  The second statement is what he would like to see.

Airbus is doing the first statement.  Pilots are there simply to try to figure out what the computers are doing.  Boeing subscribes to the second where there are great flying professionals with big watches actually flying the plane.
I spoke to a potential member of our CAF wing last night. He flies an Airbus and said it was about as exciting as watching paint dry. He wants to make flying fun again and wants to fly our SNJ.

We've had socialists in Congress before. I guarantee you the vast majority of survey respondents couldn't even define "socialism". And that includes those who are against it. The ones who are for it likely just know they like some of the socialist-esque policies interwoven into our form of capitalism.

But now that I type that out, perhaps there is a danger in that ignorance.
Just the fact that the majority want government provided healthcare AND want private insurance demonstrates that they haven’t thought these questions through very well.

This poll is proof that the current public education system has been an utter and complete failure in producing free-thinking, critical thinking, and historically literate students.

We should eliminate this waste of treasure, open up one-room school houses to teach the three R’s, and plan for a massive pipeline infrastructure, because we will be raising a generation of ditch diggers.

Just like Obummer did for his race
Yep. We were as a society becoming “post racial.”  Then Obama came in and stoked old flames of hatred and victimhood. I’m not sure we can ever turn back.

Don't go to Florida with the idea of "girl watching", unless it's spring break.  Otherwise, they mostly make my 62 yr old wife look young.
Even during spring break any more, most of the girls are showing a lot more skin than one person should have (if you get my drift).
Girl watching just ain't what it used to be.

But maybe Rush will move to Florida and things will change! ;D
NOW you tell me.
