Title: The Pope.....
Post by: EppyGA - White Christian Domestic Terrorist on October 22, 2020, 10:36:34 AM
So the Pope had something to say about the gay community. I'm not sure the LGBTQ crowd may have paid close attention. What did he not say?

Yes, there will be a quiz.  ;D

Some of my severely Catholic friends had a mild freakout over that announcement.

Did they listen to exactly how he phrased it?

Nope  :)  Then I asked them to listen to what he said.  And what he did not say.

Are you alluding to the fact that he approves of civil unions, but not marriage?

Bingo

Do,you think the Libs or LBGTQ family caught that?

I suspect that nothing short of full-throated endorsement of the LBGTwhateverelse agenda will be acceptable.

You’re exactly right. In fact this will infuriate the alphabet lobby even more. It was no accident that they rejected the concept and term of “civil unions” and demanded that they be allowed to use the term “marriage.”

This infuriates my wife. I get it. She is fine with civil unions, but feels possessive of the historical and millennial-long cultural meaning of marriage.

Apparently being married to me for 37 years is such a treat she doesn’t want to share it.

Oh no.  Endorsement is no longer enough.  LBGTwhateverelse promotion is demanded and required.

I guess I disagree with most of you here, I’m for gay marriage. What I find much more alarming about this pope is his calling for an end to free market capitalism.

Well, for one, you don't disagree with me.  I was responding to the OP, but I truly believe that freedom to choose a mate is a God-Given right, regardless of the sex or race of that mate.  You can't demand that government step out of our personal lives unless you demand that they step out of our bedroom.  I know this sounds trite, but some of my best friends have been gay, even if I cringe at the idea of a homosexual relationship for myself.

That’s well put. The argument against gay marriage is often a social engineering argument, that allowing gays to marry somehow destroys the institution of marriage, meaning straight one man one woman marriage. That never made sense to me. I see no connection there at all. It seems to me the biggest destroyers of straight marriage are the welfare state and feminism.

I have no problem at all with gay marriage.  A strong family unit is essential for bringing up the next generation.  If someone loves another enough to commit to that person forever, that's fine with me.  It's between the partners and their God.  I'm less sure when the number of partners is > 2, but again, whatever.

However, the government should stay out of it.

All that being said, it still creeps me out to see two guys kissing.

Equality is great. Even gay people should get to experience the misery of marriage.

That’s what I always say, they should suffer right along with the rest of us.

You guys are cruel.  Gays have it tough enough already.

What would be worse, a woman living with a woman,
or a man living with a man that thinks he is a woman.
