Don't think regulation matters?  Shop price and performance between the experimental and certificated aircraft market.  For a straight comparison, what's the price difference between a Garmin G500 panel and a G3X?  Just pounding around Google, I find the former for $23,000 installed; a dual G3X for under $10,000.  Exactly how different can these two units be?  Over twice the price worth of difference?
