Spin Zone / Re: C.S. Lewis quote from my .sig
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:58:08 AM »
BTW - remember that the quote applies whether your consider yourself on the left or the right.  We see the left in charge right now, but it would equally intolerable to be "progressed" into good habits by the moral saints on the right.

The pendulum always swings.

I haven't seen any significant legisaltion or regs from "the right" that intrude upong my freedom.  The Patriot Act was BIPARTISAN.  We have been controlled by THE LEFT since at least 1964, probably more like FDR.

"They" like us to be arguing left vs right, etc., because while we're distracted they "all" are boning us.

Thought it was an interesting quote, but nobody wants to read all of this in my signature...so, here's what I'm saving you all from by having the shorter one.  Enjoy.

Quote
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

TL;DR

*snork*

[CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT!!] I'm starting to think Obama has Eric Holder out hiring people to shoot up places, just so he can get support for his largely unpopular policies.

As far fetched as it may seem, it sure seems like there are a lot of these events as we get close to election time. Yeah, a bit tin foil hatish, but...

Spin Zone / Re: What Will the Downfall of the US Look Like?
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:48:11 AM »
2016 is the tipping point.  Actually, the tipping point may be well past.  I don't think Bernie has a shot unless Hillary implodes, however if Hillary wins, she has telegrahed that she will out Bernie, Bernie which means give out more "free" (taxpayer funded) stuff to buy votes.  Then she will appoint three far left, radicals to the Supreme Court, which will uphold all her craziness.  Good bye USA.

Yeah, that.  :(

And the GOP is a hot mess right now, no clear leaders, and now Trump making an ass of himself mocking a disabled man. The GOP has NO credible contender and Hillary will win by a landslide.  >:(  Combine all those already on the government teat with those that will be once immigration reform is passed, and I don't think the GOP will remain a relevant party. Just not enough voters to ever win again. Game over.

Yeah, maybe a little doom and gloom, but probably not far from what will happen.

So that's why Barry wanted to see the kid at the white house, "Hey kid, get a lawyer, you'll be rich!"

I think there was a lot done by NACA before NASA.

Plenty of airfoil testing is one.

My 201 uses the NACA 63-215 airfoil, and I'd bet the wings on most GA aircraft are some derivative of a NACA airfoil.

In addition to the stupid degrees, kids are taking six years to complete college.  I don't understand.  It used to be four and out!

So many parents I talk to want their kid to enjoy the "college" experience before moving on to real life, even if it results in 5-6 years. While I enjoyed school, I couldn't wait to get out and start making money and living my own life. My parents were very strict, I couldn't get out from 'under the thumb' fast enough...

and the deplorable manner in which universities are being used as progressive indoctrination centers,

And the fact that universities will scam kids out of big money for BS[1] degrees. I recently talked with a young man who was excited to have just graduated from college. His degree: Adventure Sports! Holy cow!

Except we kinda need the oil. Look at other areas of the world where there is violence, do we do anything? No, there are no interests to protect.

We wounldn't need the oil if we were allowed to use our vast domestic energy resources.  Sadly the environmental lobby has control of the Obama admin, and that won't happen until they are gone, and replaced by a conservative.

I've always been of (the wild assed) opinion that we are purposely paying to use their oil first, as we have the economic means to do so. When they run dry, then we tap our reserves. At least, if I had enough money to do such a thing I might want to hoard my reserves will burning through others. Like I said, WAO.

I say the US should respond the same way I have been saying for quite awhile now. We need to get out and stay out.

Except we kinda need the oil. Look at other areas of the world where there is violence, do we do anything? No, there are no interests to protect.

Any parent sending their kids there is committing parental malpractice.

Sadly, this debacle is spreading like a cancer to universities across the country.

We are living in an age where the tail wags the dog, and it's going to get worse.

Spin Zone / Re: Who do you think can defeat Hillary?
« on: November 13, 2015, 06:17:41 AM »
I like the combo ticket of Trump/Carson (or the other way around), I think they'd have a *chance* of beating Hillbilly. Still, though, I have a sinking feeling that nothing the GOP can offer is going to stop us from enduring 8 years of Clinton.

Many many people voted for Obama because they wanted a black president, regardless of his politics and policies. I think many more women are going to vote Hillary because they want a woman president.

Post boomer generations are starting to leave their mark.

I think the Boomers are responsible for a lot of this PC crap, or whatever it is.

Boomers who are pandering to the next generations...
