So we already have comprehensive immigration laws, so ask "Why do we need another set of laws on immigration?"
The first 90 pages of this new senate bill don't even mention immigration. It's all about funding Ukraine.
The part of the bill that does address immigration is beyond atrocious. Just the fact that the senate has written this bill and demands it be passed tells you everything about it's supporters. They hate you and I. And they no longer fear the voter.
