I know you guys probably won’t watch (or just listen while you do other stuff, like I do), because it is really long, but it is fascinating.
So in chimp society there is an alpha male bully who rules by singular physical force. His underlings fall in line and they patrol their territorial boundaries attacking any male chimps from other “tribes” they find near their territory. They ALWAYS only attack if they have superior numbers and are assured victory.
But in human society, because we have language, our so-called “alpha males” do not rule by physical superiority but rather humans form coalitions of males who then, using language, form institutions like government, religion, and law and it’s through these institutions the groups of ruling males retain power. (Set aside for the moment the fact that feminism is now screwing that up). These institutions are neither good nor bad in and of themselves but are necessary for orderly function of groups of humans. They can become bad when power corrupts them but normally they are just how humans are, because we have language, so this is how we ended up.
Anyhow, in human society, the lone male bully who tries to exert dominance with physical violence is usually taken down by the coalition of ruling males. In other words, we don’t suffer an alpha male bully that acts like a chimp bully. Examples are the criminal justice system or, on a grander scale, Hitler.
Hitler, and Putin, behave more like the singular chimp bully than an agreeable human coalition of males keeping society ordered. This is basically what a dictator is, and humans seem to instinctively want to take them out because we aren’t chimps and dictatorship isn’t best for humans unlike chimps who don’t have language.
Following this logic, Putin needs to be defeated and/or killed. He led his troop of reluctant minions into the neighboring chimp territory thinking he had overwhelming numbers and would defeat them forthwith but he badly miscalculated. He didn’t count on their ferocity, nor his own forces’ inferiority, nor the assistance the West is giving Ukraine. The West perceives that he is the bully that needs to be stopped and wants to do that.
But the mistake we are making is helping Ukraine only to the extent of a stalemate. This appears to be yet another MIC profit making venture as it now looks to be months or years of fighting without resolution.
I’m trying to resolve in my mind my agreement with those of you who say we shouldn’t help Ukraine (and I fully agree with the reasoning: grift, depleting our own stockpiles, etc.) and my instinctive desire to put an end to Putin fast and decisively. Yet, I’ve no idea how to go about that without starting at least a limited nuclear war.
It seems somehow very wrong to continue the stalemate: we should either get out completely and focus on shoring up our own defenses and borders, or go ahead and lead a full on involvement along with NATO to push Putin out of Ukraine and end his adventuring once and for all. Yes that risks all out WW3 but if that’s going to happen eventually anyway, better now than later after we have weakened ourselves by “helping” Ukraine for so long.
What’s keeping me from wanting to do the second option is the Biden administration. The worst possible thing we could do is involve ourselves directly while they are in charge. Now is not the time to go to all out war. Our economy is tanking, our supply chains are shit, we gave up energy independence, we are fiscally almost bankrupt, and our government cares more about the threat of MAGA hat wearers than Vladimir Putin.
So I reluctantly conclude that we should withdraw all support for Ukraine and get our own house in order. But the same problem remains: Biden (Dems) are in charge so that won’t happen. It looks like either way we are truly and royally fucked.

Of course when I say Biden I don’t mean that empty clown. If we have to go to war I want a leader I can trust. There is no one involved right now that qualifies. We don’t even know for sure who is calling the shots other than it’s nobody elected. Now is not the time to do this. We need to back the hell off and fix our own country.
I saw a report that Russia’s MIC is breaking down because they can’t get manufacturing parts from overseas because of sanctions. I would really like to know where OUR parts come from. Or if we make them here, where do the raw materials come from?
The Democrats’ (and complicit Republicans) plan:
1. Beat the U.S. economy down into a pulp
2. Declare half of our own citizens, not Russia, the greatest threat to democracy
3. Become dependent on enemies for oil, parts and materials
4. Refuse to defend our own borders
5. Have an Alzheimer’s patient as our CIC and a cackling hen for a backup
6. Piss off the Russian lunatic rampaging in Europe
Trump’s plan:
1. Have a strong healthy economy
2. Be energy independent and start bringing manufacturing closer to home
3. Secure the borders
4. Appear so big and threatening that the Russian lunatic never tries to annex Ukraine in the first place

Let's assume that there's nothing that we as individuals can do to change the MIC or the politicians that are steering all this for their own benefit in power and/or profit. I'm not into power, but what can we do to get in on the riches? When Russia invaded I bought Raytheon and Nucor stock that are doing quite nicely (balanced by Boeing stock that is still sinking like a rock). But what else can I do to get rich off the misery of others? I can't end their misery, but at least I can benefit from it.
OK, that sounds excessively harsh. I'll donate some more0 of my future riches to help animal shelters.

All of us who have diversified investments are actually profiting. Ever look into your portfolio and see what’s actually in there? What’s in your mutual funds? Another way to get in on the riches is to get a job in the MIC or one of its downstream subcontractors. This kind of profit isn’t the problem. It’s the free market meeting the need of a country’s national defense. The problem is when people in positions of power manipulate geopolitical events to misdirect more profit excessively and unfairly to themselves. Especially when they do so causing innocent civilians and naive young soldiers to needlessly die!

But I'm looking for excess profits by either targeting specific companies with "play money" or doing something else to line my pockets in the short term. And from a distance. I suppose it would be easier and probably more certain to just throw money at some random number on a roulette wheel in Vegas. I guess that I'd need more power than I currently have to do what the MIC, politicians, and such are doing.
