Title: Obama's greatest legacy
Post by: Little Joe on January 20, 2017, 06:41:11 AM
I read this somewhere recently. I think it was an opinion piece in the local paper that was probably from a syndicated columnist, so you may have already read this.

Obama's greatest legacy is that he gave us:

President Donald Trump.

Hillary's contribution was relatively brief and temporary.  I think several of the GOP candidates could have beaten her.

If it were not for eight years of frustration (and anger) under Obama's tenure, Trump would never have had a chance in the first place.  I believe he would have been on the "second string" of the GOP debates and would have been among the first to wash out.

I pu the blame squarely where it belongs.  The American electorate.

In some ways we are experiencing another 1776, without bloodshed.  A purging of a wannabee King, and an oppressive regime.

I thought liberals never blamed the victims!

But I do happen to agree with you.  If the American electorate were smarter, and given that Hillary and Trump were the candidates, Hillary would not have received half as many votes as she did.

As it was, given the way the American electorate has been pitted against one another, we were bound to elect a Donald Trump.  Someone that will definitely change "politics as usual".  And I would think that you would agree.  Even if you don't like, trust or believe Trump, we had to end "politics as usual".

Eight years of Obama has nearly killed off the Democrats.  Over 1100 seats lost nationally in his eight years of rule.  Lost the House, the Senate, the Presidency and so many local ans state seats and this year the legislature in KY.  Great job!!!

Oh but Steingar blames the unwashed masses from his Ivory Tower.  We are so stupid to select freedom over his oppression and TYRANNY.  Please, if I wanted oppression, I'd go back to college.

More precisely, the part of the American electorate that elected Obama, twice.

If the American electorate were smarter, neither of them would have been candidates.

As an Independent moderate liberal I think it is easier for me to be objective about the parties.  Obama was not horrible, but I certainly think that he did more than few bad things.  President Trump will do some bad things, but then he will learn too.
