Pilot Zone / Re: History of the Fokker aircraft company

I had many miles riding in the F100 RJs back in the day. Anyone remember hearing the ice balls that would form above overheads? On every climb or decent it sounded like hundreds of marbles up there rolling along. Strange Fokking plane.

Well experienced and trained pilots, the father and son. Wonder what happened?

Interesting stuff. I had no idea he was Dutch. The F-27s were a nice regional commuter aircraft.

An old Irish World War II Spitfire pilot and flying ACE, was speaking in a church and reminiscing about his war experiences. “In 1942,” he said, “the situation was really tough. The Germans had a very strong air force. I remember,” he continued, “one day I was protecting the bombers and suddenly, out of the clouds, these Fokkers appeared.”

There were a few gasps from the parishioners, and several of the children began to giggle. “I looked up, and realized that two of the Fokkers were directly above me. I aimed at the first one and shot him down. By then, though, the other Fokker was right on my tail.”

At this point, several of the elderly ladies of the church were blushing with embarrassment, the girls were all giggling and the boys laughing loudly.

The pastor finally stood up and said, “I think I should point out that ‘Fokker’ was the name of a German-Dutch aircraft company, who made many of the planes used by the Germans during the war.”

“Yes, that’s true,” said the old pilot, “but these fokkers were flying Messerschmitts.”

A sweet grandmother Telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital. She timidly asked,
"Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said, "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number of the patient?"

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, Norma Findlay, Room 302."

The operator replied, "Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse's station for that room."

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said,
"I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back normal and her Physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow."

The grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful. I was so worried. God bless you for the good News."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?"

The grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me s**t."

Perhaps it's time to start calling the MC over at the PoA Saloon into the street.

They are rather upset with me for using the full name of one of the members over there. I have asked the MC for clarification but was apparently given more points and a one week ban for asking!

Ah, I was wondering what on earth you did, I don’t recall you being a particularly out of control poster.

The pussy mods over at POA are avowed assholes, allowing only opinions they approve of.

Fuck 'em and the horse they rode on.

Welcome where your opinions are yours and not subject to approval from assholes.

Welcome Peter, we look forward to your participation.  And sorry for the childish behavior of the PoA MC.

We have an aviation forum here as well, so please feel free to post anywhere in the forum, and we zero moderation.

FYI, Peter was recently "ejected" from POA.
That should earn him a few points here, although honestly, I'm not sure what his political persuasion is.

Interesting.

Well, not interesting, but it does illustrate the problems with POA MC members.

Well technically all political subjects, especially those not aviation related, are prohibited in PoA. Agreed about the decreasing quality of moderation by the MC there.

Welcome to Pilot Spin!
It gets rather ugly here at times, but that just adds to the forum’s charm.  ;)

I gave it another push...

"I didn't realize buying socks at Walmart was a constitutional right."

You would agree that it's a privilege to buy socks, right? Perhaps not from Walmart, but that's a personal judgement.

There is a constitutional amendment which prevents abridging the privileges of citizens, but I suspect most people don't take that prohibition against abridging any more seriously than the other one.

************************

The funny thing, most people don't know that part of the 14th Amendment.
