Title: Was DeWitt’s offer to Lake an illegal bribe?
Post by: PeterNSteinmetz on January 25, 2024, 07:55:43 AM
So one of my former contacts on MeWe characterized DeWitt’s offer to Kari Lake here in AZ as an illegal bribe.

My first thought was that offering someone a lucrative job to stay out of a race was just the usual ugly political wheeling and dealing and not even a “bribe”. But when looking at the Merriam-Webster definition, there are two senses of the term.

I usually think of a bribe in the first sense as offering someone an inducement to do something which is contrary to a duty or to betray an obligation. Certainly serious bribes fall into this category and may be illegal.

There is a second sense. A trivial example is when you “bribe” a child to behave by promising them an ice cream cone. And the offer to Lake is certainly a more serious “bribe” in that sense.

So I have been trying to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with DeWitt’s offer, if anything. What are people’s thoughts?

If dewitt was the messenger, was mitchie the criminal?

They should both be indicted and convicted.

Michael Patrick Leahy appears on Steve Bannon War Room discussing, in part, the Jeff DeWit message to Kari Lake and who from “back east” was the originator of the message to bribe Mrs Lake to stay out of the Arizona senate race.

As expected, the sources for MPL’s report outline that Mitch McConnell and the National Republican Senatorial Committee originated the proposal.  This should not be a surprise to anyone who reads CTH.   The NRSC is primarily funded by the biggest lobbying group, the U.S Chamber of Commerce.  The USCoC fund the legislative priorities of the Senate and Mitch McConnell does their bidding.  In essence the bribe money would come from the USCoC into the NRSC.

There is another recording out there, and said to be more damaging.

While we can debate if the bribe is legal or not, the bigger item here is the inner workings of the GOP and DNC cabal.   We now have a political elite class that have declared government is theirs and theirs alone, and outsiders are not welcome.  We have gone from what the founding fathers put in the constitution as minimal government to the largest federal bureaucracy ever known.

The politicians have lost their fear of the voters, and have ripped off their mask.

Before they hid bribes as "book advances" or putting someone on a board of a huge corporation with a 7 figure salary, where the only work is to show up for a meeting once a year.  The other payoff is to appoint someone to a university at an obscene pay rate to "teach" a few classes each year.
