Seems like it is happening in many places.  People voting straight Republican ticket check at the end and find that Trump does not show up on their result.

I'm sure MarkZ will have an explanation about how this isn't really happening.

The trouble with voting machines is that at the end you have no artifact of what you intended to do.  There are no hanging chads, no X outs, line throughs, arrows or circles to say "some kind of mistake was made, but this is what I want".

I program computers.  I do not trust them.

Quote
We also contacted the Texas Secretary of State to ask about the geographically dispersed rumors, and the representative with whom we spoke stated that Texas comprises 254 different elections, all administrated at the county level. Machines and even voting methods (such as optical scan or wheel) vary from county to county, meaning that a particular form of vote "rigging" would be difficult or impossible to implement all across Texas. She explained that voting equipment used in that state had largely been obtained many years prior to the 2016 election, and that voting machines are not connected to the Internet.

According to the Texas Secretary of State's office, each vote is recorded in three places: on the machine itself, on an external drive, and on a paper printout. Citing the possibility of human error or (relatively rare) miscalibration of voting machines, the representative told us the office encouraged all voters to double check their ballots before submitting their vote. She added that should a voter encounter a malfunctioning piece of voting equipment, it is imperative they report the incident to election officials to ensure the issue can be addressed. However, she was not aware of any official reports of widespread or localized vote switching (despite the rampant rumors on Facebook). All three agencies we contacted affirmed that vote-switching rumors are in no way news to the 2016 general election, and that user error overwhelmingly accounts for reports of switched votes.

Snopes is a vile, leftist, fact-twisting site - not to be trusted!  ;)

Since voting is handled by the local county/municipality, which in Texas, are likely Republican and all of these "reports" seem to be on social media, I'd like more information before making a judgment.

Lol, user error, bull shit.  If that type of user error can occur then the system needs to be redesigned.

No it doesn't. The straight ticket button is common. You'll never avoid a few folks hitting the wrong party and thinking the system is rigged.

;D  I'm constantly amazed at the ability of normal, smart people to screw up seemingly simple tasks.  In fairness, I've done my share of stupid stuff over the years.

And if you want them to screw it up quicker tell them it can't be screwed up or better yet, "It's idiot proof."

A few years ago my wife and I went to vote.  She finished up quite a bit faster than me even though I researched the amendments and races ahead of time and pretty much knew how I was going to vote.

The ballot was layed out such that the ovals to be filled in were in two columns.

When I finally finished, I asked her how she finished up so fast.  She said there weren't that many choices, and she didn't even see the one for the mayors race.  I told her that was on the back.

WHAT?????   sez she!

Turns out that at the bottom of the page there was a note that said "Vote both sides".  That didn't make sense to her so she only voted one side (yes/no) or (Rep/Dem) or whatever the options were.  She couldn't understand why they said vote both sides.

I told her that "vote both sides" meant to turn the ballot over and vote for the races on the back side.

Boy did she get red.  I still don't let her live that down.

I don't do Facebook, but I was able to view the link above.  Michelle Malkin really did a nice job of telling off those progressive hags on the View.  They are just miserable, angry, jealous women.

That is a very old piece from the View.
