Title: "The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round..."
Post by: Lucifer on February 25, 2018, 08:03:18 AM
And right over Dianne Feinstein as her party throws her under the bus.  Seems that she is not Alt Left radical enough for them any longer.

So, the DNC is broke, in disarray, no real leadership and no message.  So their answer is to become even more radical.

The party is moving further left which is in contrast to the rest of the country. No doubt there's a portion of the population who support people like Bernie Sanders and other liberals with extreme leftist views but I certainly don't think that's the mainstream views. The midterms will be interesting and even if the Democrats do end up taking the House and/or Senate, I'll be curious to see what kind of Democrats were elected. Mainstream liberals or the extremists in the party?

They can rail against tax cuts and other policy measures all they want, but when Americans are seeing more money in their pockets each month, that's what will resonate the most. I'm not convinced the Republicans are going to hang onto the majority in either chamber yet, though I think gaining seats in the Senate is a possibility.

Never underestimate the Republican's ability not to do stupid things. Never underestimate the Democrat's ability to not out-do Republicans.

Actually, the party is looking for candidates who can give the appearance of being moderate, but will still turn and vote party line when they are elected.  They can't afford to move further left and they know it, because they have to get candidates elected first.  Moderates will shy away from fanatics, so Dems cannot afford anyone who is heavily identified as such.

Feinstein has too much baggage.  She has to be jettisoned in favor of the next fanatic in moderate clothing.

Kevin De Léon stands to the left of Lenin and can hardly be described as a "moderate" anything.  The DNC leadership is hard core alt left radical progressives.   Sen Feinstein is being thrown under the bus because she is not radical enough for them.

Senator Jones in Alabama is holding the moderate line right now because his term is only two years and he knows there will be a strong conservative challenging him in 2020 (probably Mo Brooks) and if he goes alt left now he's done.

And the dims have yet another problem brewing:

Quote
Democratic activists in Orange County threw an impromptu party with cake, party hats and singing after Republican Rep. Darrell Issa announced he was retiring.
But the exhilaration over the opportunity to capture a Republican congressional seat quickly turned to political panic.
There are so many Democrats running for Congress in some districts that they could split the votes in the June 5 primary and send two Republicans to the November election, thanks to California's top-two primary system. Democrats need 24 seats to reclaim the majority in the U.S. House — and are putting money and attention toward 10 California contests. In other words, every race matters.

I watched a panel discussion about this about a year ago, if not longer - and NO I don't have a link for those too myopic to hold a discussion without one - and a "consultant" to the democrats said that the party was going to push and shove the old guard out the door to make room for the Kamela Harris kind of sewage.

It appears the democrats aren't happy to live off our work. Now they want us to thank them for stealing our money every day.

The next set of candidates are going to make the pigs like Nancy Pelosi seem like centrists.

You're right.  I doubt they're looking for moderate candidates out of Kalifornia.

In general, they are looking to hide their liberalism because they have to pretend to be more moderate to get elected.  The way Democrats get elected is by hiding who they really are.
