Title: Unintended consequences
Post by: lowtimer on March 22, 2020, 10:50:57 AM
So they closed everything they thought would bring together groups of people for our own good.

Then they declare "no fee day" in the national forest and parks.

Saturday the public launch ramps and beaches filled to capacity (Saguaro and Canyon Lakes AZ) with people almost elbow to elbow on the beaches. Large groups of boats rafted together partying it up.

I can only imagine the crowds at the Grand Canyon and Lake Havasu (Google spring break at Lake Havasu videos).

If we are going to die without social distancing we're all doomed, doomed I tell you.

I'm still bitter.  Clinging to my guns and religion (Christopaganism).

I was going to go to my gun club and sight in my third and fourth long range back up rifles to make sure they were still on.  Yep, it's closed.   >:(

A friend of mine wanted to sight in his 23rd and 24th back up.   ::)

Trump said yesterday that the cure may be worse than the disease signaling at the end of the "15 day period" that things could start to get back to normal.  He's in for a fight from some in the medical community and the Democrats that want to transfer the entire economy to government.

I am already sick of this shit.  Let's get back to being functioning humans.

I guess it was Cuomo that said we need to nationalize the medical supply chain now.  God help us!

Bernie and others have said we have to nationalize "essential industries".  Pharma, Oil, Tech, etc.

Trump has to tread a fine line, he's absolutely correct the cure will be FAR worse than the disease if we stay shut down longer than 15 days.  If he is taking the advice of the CDC and the NIAID, well they are disease specialists with an agenda to stop the spread of the disease, they are NOT economists or logistics experts and Trump cannot allow them to drive this train by themselves. Trump needs to take all things into consideration and weigh all options and do what's best for us people and he is the ONLY person in DC I have faith that will do that.  If his economist specialists tell him we need to open up the country again and the disease experts fight him, he will need to stand up to them. By doing so he will take all kinds of heat from the dems and the media, but like he's been for the past 3 years, take the heat and STILL do what he thinks is best for US THE PEOPLE. He is in an incredibly difficult position, always has been ever since he took office, but this pandemic has ratcheted it up a thousand times. I can think of no one else who would be capable of doing this.

You said it.  That is EXACTLY the position Trump is in right now.  It is really no win, but someone has to have the balls to do it, and I can't think of anyone better than him.  Sometimes leaders have to do things that are unpopular initially, but upon reflection were actually the right thing to do.

We can't live in a bubble free from all risks/hazards.

It would be no life at all.

If Trump decides to end the 15 day period, he will be in for a fight from the Democrats and the MSM.
However, if he decides to extend the 15 day period, he will be in for a fight from the Democrats and the MSM.

Exactly!  So he’s going to do what’s best for us

It might be to extend it a while longer. All depends on the data which should start to reveal trends more accurately over the next two weeks. We need to get a better handle on the real death rate, with the denominator being all cases, not just symptomatic cases, plus a good estimate of how much damage is going to be done to the economy and people’s lives. There is no one I trust more to make that call, and in that respect it might be a good thing they will crucify him no matter what he does, because that way they have no power to influence him one way or the other.

2 more weeks of a shutdown will put this country into a depression.  Commercial mortgages and the mortgage bond market are on the verge of collapse.  The domino effect will be horrific.

My fucking twerp governor tweeted he will issue a “Safer at Home” order starting tomorrow. Because that is less panic-inducing than a “shelter in place” order, or so he thinks the sheeple will buy it.

We’ve had a total 4 deaths from this. And less than 400 cases of it.

We are losing our minds.

The leftist progressives are running the narrative.  The problem some of these governors are having is if they don't go along with the others, they will be brutalized by the MSM, and they after all only care about re-election.

This country is not far away from an economic collapse that will make 1929 look like a high school prank.   1929 gave us FDR, who through constant government interference prolonged the depression for years.  Had FDR left it alone, the country would have recovered in a year.  After his administrations constant meddling it was only WW2 that brought us out of the depression.

Right now we have Biden in the wings, and he's looking to pick a dipsy doodle VP.  God forbid we enter a depression, and he get's elected, then we are truly fucked.

Could this be the precursor to WWIII?  Who benefits from that?  Hmmmm, let me guess.

I don't see it as a precursor.   China has suffered under sanctions, and so has Iran and NK.   They want to go back to the BHO days where money was handed out freely and they set the rules for us, not them.   And their economies have been crashing as well.

Couple all of that with the leftist progressives agenda, and we have a perfect storm.
