"Interesting" article in the Boston Herald today (24 Jan 2021) ... and, no, I don't have a url, I read newspapers printed on, ya know, paper.

It quotes Dr Todd Ellerin, director of infectious diseases at South Shore Health, "We know that cloth masks don't work as well as surgical masks.  I'm not saying jump to an N95 respirator..."

It also claims that cloth masks "might" not cut it against the new more contagious covid-19 strain.

And it reports that European countries are now requiring medical-grade masks used in public, rather than cloth masks.

Note that the definition of "close contact" does not include consideration of whether or not masks are worn.  At least for the definitions I have seen.

I wonder if people analyzing contact tracing efforts are paying attention to the relative numbers of close contacts with masks that get infected vs close contacts without masks that get infected.
