Happy Fourth to you all. Weather permitting, I'll have the family out in our 17' Key West boat in the beautiful waters of the Tampa Bay area, flying the flag of our great country from one of our rod holders. I'll take some pics.
PS to invflatspin - I completed the install of my VHF black box radio and 4', 4.5dB gain VHF Digital-brand antenna. Keys trip the week of the 14th. I'm ridiculously stoked!

I like the “flying the flag of our great country” part. :)

Happy Independence Day!
Enjoy the hot dogs and chips or whatever you're doing to celebrate. But please take a moment today to pause and remember that the reason for today is the celebration of our Independence from England 243 years ago. The Declaration of Independence is an exceptional document in the world, there are virtually no others like it. Just governments being instituted among men to protect their rights was and still is a radical concept and it is one that we should all remember and teach when the moment is right.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I marched in the July 4th Parade this morning, hung the flag from the porch bright and early, sang in a July 4concert and watched President Trump’s address from the balcony of the White House, before tuning in the Boston Pops for their annual concert and fireworks.

Great day. I relaxed at home, hung the flag and then brought it in when it started storming.

We went to the local AAA clubs ball game and fireworks afterward. It was great, they pull three trailers out into center field, set up a table for the controller and it's on.

Went to the range yesterday. Shot my M1 Caribine, and my CZ's. Freedom is good.

Happy belated to all. Good to be around true Americans, no matter our different perspectives.
I spent my 4th cleaning and painting a few rooms at the lake house, and unloading an antique Allis Chalmers road grader. I just got back a little while ago.
While I was out there, one of my neighbors must have spent $10k on fireworks. It started just after 9pm, and went for almost 30 minutes. Mostly continuous. This was not a comm demonstration, it was all done by two guys I know in the next channel over. I watched it all from the balcony, and it was quite a show. Plenty of boats out on the lake at night as well. Some of them were setting of fireworks from the boat(illegal, but - hey who is going to write them up for that).
Even more than the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, and the federalist papers, the Declaration is the standout document which defines our country. All that followed flowed from this wonderful statement that we are going to stand on our own.
