Title: Here it comes. We will effectively FORCE you to buy EVs

The Biden administration is reportedly planning to propose some of the most stringent automobile pollution rules in the world, which are meant to drive up sales of electric vehicles to ten times their current level so that up to 67 percent of new cars sold in the U.S. are electric vehicles by 2032.

The proposed limits on tailpipe emissions will be brought by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with EPA administrator Michael Regan making the announcement on Wednesday in Detroit, Michigan, according to people familiar with the situation who spoke to the New York Times.

These Fascists need to keep themselves and their rich, crony investors and Corporate stooges getting even richer and more powerful on the backs of the average American Territorial working person.  EVs aren't selling.  Very few see the value in them as they are a step BACKWARDS in function and capability.  However, EVERY car manufacturer in the World has invested Trillions in new and retooled plants just for EVs.  Did anyone think these investments would be allowed to fail as they should?

I have NO problems with EVs.  In fact, 90% of my driving would be fine with an EV at this point. I drive an average of 18 - 20 miles per day normally.  It would be great just to plug in the car in my garage when I got home each night.  No muss no fuss.  What about the apartment dweller, the townhouse or rowhome dweller. etc.?   What do they do with on street parking and huge, common parking lots with no chargers?

They can help that along by telling car parts manufacturers that they can no longer make parts for a range of older vehicles.

No one is saying where all the electric power will come from to charge these cars.

using "logic" from other subjects...

people who rent apartments (rather than owning their own home) tend to be poorer, and tend to "disadvantaged".

Charging EVs will be, ahem, challenging for people in apartments.

Therefore, forcing everyone to buy/use EVs is racist.

We have neither the generation, nor transmission, nor infrastructure at this point to support the number of EVs they need to sell to remain profitable or even solvent. Their goal is to LIMIT TRANSPORTATION by the masses to public transportation.  The elite can always afford whatever they want.  Think Soylent Green.  Not as far-fetched as once thought, huh?

They don't need to worry about GA anymore.  It's become practically unaffordable and complicated with rules, regulations and requirements for the vast majority of even current pilots.  Next is motor vehicles, and ICE.

The US is not built for an EV wave. Except for the east coast, most Americans drive, and drive meaningful distances.  What may work in Rhode Island won’t work in Texas.

I’m building a retirement home in the Northwoods. EV batteries done do shit when it’s sub-zero, and I have to drive 50 miles just to get to a decent sized town.

Remember the wave of tiny Jap cars they came into popularity in the 1970s due to the pending fear of diminishing oil reserves, gas lines, etc?

Then miraculously more dinosaurs died, giving us more oil than we can ever burn. It’s almost like we have a refinery in the middle of the planet or something.

So cars got larger (again), trucks and SUVs became popular everyday vehicles, and we have lead the world in productivity.

Same shit, different decade.

The Japanese small car invasion of the 70s was MARKET DRIVEN.  It's what people wanted due to the economic circumstances.  This EV bullshit is Nazi Party driven (Government/Corporate Alliance).

It was Free Choice and people exercising their right to make economic decisions.  The Government/Corporate Alliance didn't ban nor limit big gas guzzlers or force small Japanese cars on them.  Different shit, different decade.  Vastly different.

This is more meddling in the "free market".

We've been told for decades how we have a "free market" and the reality is we don't.   Government has no business regulating what can and cannot be sold.

Today's cars have so much useless crap regulated on them before they can be sold, with more coming.

Fact is EV's are not popular, and the regime knows it.  So they are going to go full dictator and try once again to bypass congress with a royal edict from the demented pedophile.

And while we are speaking about the demented pedophile and his corrupt family, I'm still waiting on the Speaker and his congress to do something.   Still waiting...........

This is Obamacare for CARS.   >:( >:( >:(

Trust Roberts to cave if there is a Supreme Court case against EV mandates.    >:(

Well, we don't have the transmission infrastructure (grid) capability, but we do have generation capacity.
Say what you will about renewable energy, it is still usable energy.

Quote
The entire electric grid in the United States has installed capacity of about 1,250 gigawatts of power

But in another case of government fustercluck;
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/06/outdated-us-energy-grid-tons-of-clean-energy-stuck-waiting-in-line.html

Quote
and there is currently 2,020 gigawatts of energy capacity waiting in line to be connected.

Quote
Wind and solar power generators wait in yearslong bureaucratic lines to connect to the power grid, only to be faced with fees they can’t afford, forcing them to scramble for more money or pull out of projects completely.

This application process, called the interconnection queue, is delaying the distribution of clean power and hampering the U.S. in reaching its climate goals.

For each unit of solar and wind generation that comes on line, a unit of reliable generation needs to be put in place because sometimes the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow.

That's either fossil fuel, Nuke or Hydro. So you must have a back up to all that "renewable" (lie) "clean" (another lie).  We have centuries of domestic fossil fuels and finding more everyday.  Natural Gas which is in huge abundance is clean, cheap and available NOW. Use it.

The MAN Made Climate Change hoax is being used for power, control and profit. That's all it's about.  Not the Earth, environment nor kindness.

There is some truth to that, but not completely.
Just to play devil's advocate again:

Even on overcast days, solar arrays may still generate around half capacity.
And often, on days when the sun is obscured, there is generally more wind.

Also, on days where there is sun and/or wind, those fossil fuel plants will be idling and using up less fossil fuel.
NOTE:  My biggest problem with fossil fuel is that that is where the Middle East terrorists derive the bulk of their funds.
If we implement more renewable energy here, AND keep pumping oil (which we won't, but . . . ) then we would be keeping the price of oil down and screwing OPEC. ;D

I do agree with that too.

My biggest gripe though is the state of our national electric grid regardless of the fuel source and the seriously fucked up bureaucratic regulation.  It (the grid) is insufficient and vulnerable.

Their goal isn't EVs for the masses.  The EVs will be for the elite, with the rest of us forced onto busses, trains, and other mass transit.

European progressives have very little interest in actual - real world - application to their bullshit.

They are all about virtue signaling and forcing those they feel are inferior into submitting at any cost, including mass murder.

Think about how progressive shrug off mass shootings every time the shooter doesn’t fit their narrative. They don’t care about the body count, they only care about their ego driven agenda.

True, but the market demand was driven by fear - Government-sponsored fear mongering about we were running out of oil. Demonstrably untrue, and proven untrue in the next decade.

That is likely the plan, but it is cheaper to buy a brand new Tesla model Y for $53k having a range of 330 miles than a 50 year old Cessna 172 for $103k having a range of 590 miles. If only I could get the latter for the price of the former.  :(

When it comes to authoritarian dictate one should never ever discuss the merits of the dictated action because doing so implicitly cedes the principle of free choice which should be the main counterpoint. In my humble opinion of course.

Good point. If memory serves OPEC was behind a lot of that and it certainly boosted the price of oil. Yes and our wonderful Government and Media.

I'm sure you're being facetious but I might take a Hugo over a 50 y.o. 172. Lol.
