If you stayed up for it, Donald Trump and Mike Pence gave wonderful acceptance speeches.
Donald was warm, kind, gracious and particularly complimentary towards Hilary Clinton, who shamed herself and the party by having Podesta come out and tell everyone to go home and they would see them in the morning. What kind of politician lacks the class to thank those who sacrificed for them for years, not months and weeks?
I hated having to choose between the two of them but found myself in the voting booth and had no trouble voting for the Donald. Go figure...

I've always said that the ultimate repudiation of both candidates is that the election was so close. With as bad as they both were, neither of them could win it.

That was probably the best speech Trump has given thus far. Graceful and classy, he attempted to begin the healing last night. It was a great speech and I'm excited about the prospects going forward if he continues to act this way.

I was wrong about him being able to win. Now it's up to him to prove me wrong again about how he'll govern. I want him to succeed and like I said in another thread, until he proves otherwise, he deserves a chance.

So where is Jeff? Wasn't it the rotund Canadian that lectured everyone that Trump was just a stooge to get Hillary elected? That Trump was only doing it for money? That Trump would drop out? (Multiple times). That the RNC would deny him the nomination? That the down ballot was going to cost all of the republicans their seats? Didn't he tell us it would guarantee a democrat house and senate?
What happened to all of his profound prophesies? Jeff? Jeff?

Looks like Kelly Ayotte may lose in NH. That would mean the two Senate Republicans that chose to distance themselves from Trump lost.

I agree, to a point.
Last night a huge numbered of Americans gave BHO and Hillary, and the progressive movement the middle finger. They also gave the MSM the middle finger as well. Enough is enough.
BHO will have no legacy, except that of a failed "fundamental transformation of America". He has left a giant mess to be cleaned up and it will take President Trump his entire presidency to begin to clean up the mess. And that will extend to President 46 as well.
BHO had big plans to establish the Obama Foundation just as the Clintons had done. But now he doesn't have anything to sell to donors, no one will give him a million dollars for a twenty minute speech. The Clintons also have nothing to sell as well. Look for their foundation to shrink in size, if it doesn't get totally shut down by the IRS or FBI.
Trump has a big job ahead of him. He needs to find really good people to surround himself with and he needs to put his hand out to Congress and formulate a plan. Congress needs to accept cronyism is over and get back to conducting the business of the people. There will be those who resist, but they will begin to stick out like sore thumbs.
Trump defied all odds against him and did it, for that he deserves credit. He put himself and his family through hell. It's time the American people come together and support him and try to make this work and to put the past 8 years behind us.

I rarely use the "C" word, as I find it far more vulgar than the "F" bomb. I reserve it for very few cases, and have said it rarely in my life. But, let's face it, Hillary is a classless "C".

While most of us would have been really ticked off if the election went the other way and Trump didn't give a big thank you for his supporters, I think clinton supporters are the one who get to decide if they should be ticked off by her actions and inactions.

I said that. I was clearly wrong. I didn't gauge just how pissed off the rest of the country was. Sometimes you think we are in such a minority that our pissed off attitude is narrow or unique. As a Tea Partier, I know what it's like to be marginalized.
I'm glad millions of my fellow citizens feel like me.

I didn't think it was possible. Even a number of well-respected Republicans said they couldn't vote for him. I saw a couple of articles where Hillary actually had the popular vote, but still lost because of the EC.
My issue with Trump isn't with most of his ideals. It's his immaturity and lack of thought before he speaks and lack of filter between his lips.
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it will be long before the party is really going to wish that they'd pushed harder for Cruz.

I was a Cruz guy, but I don't think he would have beaten Hillary. I was NOT a Trump supporter until he became the Republican nominee.

I cringe at his lack of brain-to-mouth filter too, but I prefer that to a politician that filters every word and position based on polls, fund raising and political correctness, and one that puts on a fake smile regardless of how he/she really feels. I guess what I am saying is I prefer honesty to fake.

I'm starting to realize he really put on a masterful campaign. Acted the buffoon so the media and DNC wouldn't take him seriously, yet behind the scenes was sharp as a fox and put together a good team and plan. Dude is shrewd and people shouldn't take him lightly.

When I read about his transition team and when/how he put it together, I realized I had been underestimating him from the beginning. All those months I was a Never-Trump guy until I got in the booth and was faced with either voting Trump, or facilitating the corrupt piece of shit in a really ugly, over priced, pants suit, the choice was suddenly and perfectly clear.

If you've studied his career, you know that he only plays to win. He's no one's stooge.
I wasn't one of the people that thought he was in it to lose. Years ago, I read two of his books. Yes, there was a lot of "I am so great" in them, but one thing was clear, he was a very driven man, that had one goal in mind. Make great deals, that made him a lot of money (win). He also has a lot of vision, and was able to get deals done with cities that nobody else was able to do.

I had to laugh at the thread topic--the words grace and class used in the same sentence with Donald Trump. Real grace and class is how someone accepts loss, not so much when they're the winner. You exhibit grace and class when you don't think anyone's around like on a bus with Billy Bush. I will admit he appeared less the jerk he has in the past bemoaning the rigged system or bragging how he's worked "the system" to his benefit. A better depiction of Trump's true grace and class was his speech at the Al Smith Memorial Foundation benefit dinner--grace and class--I think not.
Did I hear correctly when President-elect Trump praised HRCs 30 years of public service? Remind me, didn't he deride HRC's 30 years of public service just a few days ago? The man will say anything and then say the opposite depending upon his mood, audience, the weather, the alignment of the stars, perceived praise or derision, etc etc etc.
Based on what we've seen these last 18 months or so I predict he will deny making any promises that go unfilled. Wall, what wall? Mexico paying for a wall, never said it. Or he'll make a big show of building a wall of some small length and declare victory. He'll ally with Russia and defeat ISIS--the ISIS Putin and Assad label the Assad opposition. The only promise I predict he will fulfill exactly as stated is the tax cuts to the uber rich because it benefits himself--everything else is ....wait for it.... negotiable.
