Just out of curiosity, tell me you didn't place the current American flag on the confederate soldiers' graves.

Personally, I think it's a bunch of nothing, but seems goofy to give equal rights to confederate soldiers since they were indeed the enemy of the U.S.

But really, tearing down statues and getting upset about the rebel flag...those are people with too much time on their hands.  People in the south who enjoy seeing the rebel flag and references to Lee aren't pro-slavery, they're just having some fun and enjoy their ties to the southern states.  Yes, there's some pride to be from the south because things are different there.

And most of the people are embarrassed that the KKK and neo-nazis are embracing their old flag.

Times have changed.  I have friends in several southern states and they really don't take the ties to the south seriously.  Some have the old flag license plates, etc.  But they also have close friends and family who are black and Hispanic and want no part of any prejudice.  We all know it exists, but we're just not close to anyone who feels that way, so it seems odd that something like this can get so out of hand.

I live just a few miles from the Mizzou campus where all the cameras were last year.  The damage the protesters did to our state, city and university won't be undone for decades.  Enrollment is down in the double digits thanks to the protesters who got their fifteen minutes and disappeared.  The name has been tarnished and it was amazing how often people I've known forever emailed me asking about the danger in town.  I LIVE HERE and never saw anything - nothing, except what was on the news.  One thing I can say is that every town has idiots, racists (of every color), big mouths and wannabes.

The current situation got out of hand because of one idiot who wanted attention and thought it would be cool to mow down a crowd.  I know most of you will say he was attacked, etc, but anyone with even one functioning brain cell knows that's not what happened.  He was an idiot with too much time on his hands, not enough real worries, and found a group of morons to associate with.  To fuel the flames was the group of counter-protesters.  To be fair, another group of people with too much free time, but by and large most, but not all of them, were peaceful.

I used to say that people crying racism were out of touch and looking for attention.  And then I come here and see a lot of the crap being said and it's obvious I'm out of touch.  People like that do exist, and apparently in numbers big enough to warrant more attention.  Because it obviously is a problem.  Whodathunk, in this day and age.

Are you aware of the video showing the dudes car being hit by objects and that police believe he may have panicked and hit the accelerator?  Not dismissing what happened, just that there might be other explanations to what happened?

Talk about a room full of lunatic fringe.  At first, I thought your group of nuts was somewhat in jest.  Now I see you seriously believe some of the crap you espouse.

The white supremacist that ran his crowd into the crowd deserves anything and everything the justice system can throw at him.  His actions were indefensible, cowardly and stupid.

But can you honestly say there was no fault on both sides?

Somehow it's the dead woman's fault to any extent that some lunatic ran her down with his car?  You, Lucy and number semen and trump are crazy.

I don't think it's unfair at all.  The idiot brought it on himself.  And then said he can see where there's fault on both sides.  He's the worst thing to have ever happened to the Republican Party, ever.

So the free market should prevail when it comes to healthcare.  But not for running media companies?

I say that half in jest.  I really don't care about media companies being part of a free market.  It's not like a person of any intelligence doesn't know bias when they see it.  No one here complains about foxnews's bias, but it's as obvious as huffpo's bias the other direction.  For the most part I avoid minor political stuff.  I'll glance at the headlines for major things, like this and may read a few.  The thing is, I read a number of news sites with slants every which direction and figure the major points they all have in common come somewhere close to reality.

I don't read articles about Clinton or Obama because it's history.  They haven't been relevant for some time now, so I'm looking for articles germane to today's situations and what's likely to happen tomorrow.  I don't want much in the way of politics either.  I want to know what's going on across the globe in business, in crime, in interesting trivial news too, things like the football player who's quitting to finish his Phd in math.  It's fun to know the world is telling Kaepernick he's irrelevant.

Yahoo news is one of my favorites because the articles are so diverse, but I know almost all the articles are written by people with no credentials and little education.  There are brain-dead people here who clamor for pure and unbiased news, as if it ever existed.  It's all slanted to some degree.

It's the generalizations that make this all a moot point.  Every one of us knows incompetent people of every race and gender who could never be fit for combat.  To disqualify all women from combat because some can't meet the same physical standards is ridiculous.  But this thread isn't about that, it's about transgender.

I don't get the whole idea and never have nor will I ever be able to comprehend it.  But again, that's not the topic.  Really, the topic isn't even of having them in combat, but in the military at all.  I had no idea there were 15000 already actively serving.  Who'dathunk?  I had no idea there were that many world-wide.  If they're currently doing their jobs admirably I think it's just one more stupid action from an idiot president.

" You do realize much of this was brought on by the ACA don't you?"

Bullshit.  These problems existed LONG before ACA.  They're the reason people were so upset and that ACA even came into existence.

" So on one hand you want the government to get out of the healthcare business, but on the other hand you want it regulated?"

I didn't say that I did or did not want the government in the healthcare business.  That thought had never occurred to me.  But yes, I'd like to see more, much more, industry-provided self oversight so that the government could be less involved.  It's the lack of self control and greed that's wreaking havoc on the system.  But it's to the point where yes, the government is going to have to get more involved.

First, the thread title is disrespectful for such a serious matter.  There's just no room to think you're funny with crap like that.

As to what happened, it's hard to say.  But regardless, I hope he's charged with manslaughter.  There's simply no excuse.

I've also been flamed consistently for saying that when you're a cop you know before you even take the job that there's a certain amount of danger involved.  But you still have to put the lives of ordinary citizens first.  None of this "I felt threatened" bullshit.  Unless you SEE a gun, and it's pointed at you, you don't just open fire.

I'm not sure of the accuracy of the latest article I read but it said he'd fired multiple shots.   I initially thought it might be an accidental discharge, maybe while he was tense and masturbating his gun.  But if this is the case I just don't know how it's possible.

How is it that the federal government knows what's best for any individual state?  Health care and health care insurance in FL is going to be markedly different in FL than in NY.  I have no problem with each state setting the standards they expect for their citizens.

But health care insurance isn't the only problem we're facing.  It's the mindless bureaucratic requirements forced on HC providers.  It's the cost structure the HC providers have put in place.  And yes, a big part of it is the HC insurers and their requirements.  It's not like you can point your finger at any one part of the system and say that's the only part that's broken.  Every cog in the machine is defective.

I don't think it's too much to ask to have a system like this:
1.  Tiered professionals.  Clinics staffed with people who can treat minor ailments like bee stings, small cuts, etc.  The more serious problems get bumped up to MDs.

2.  A clear cost structure up front for things that are done on a regular basis.  Ex.  A colonoscopy is $1200.  If billing systems can produce invoices after-the-fact, they sure as hell can do it before hand.  Obviously, the doctor isn't going to know up front everything he'll have to do, but he'll certainly know the next few things you're about to be charged for.  And everyone gets the same price.

3.  Standardized insurance policies.  No more BS where Company A covers something and Company B doesn't.  Every company uses the same standardized codes to eliminate the crapload of confusion.  If an insurer doesn't cover something and a consumer disagrees the issue is brought before an industry council to make a binding decision.

4.  Here's the part that's hard for me to swallow, but I do think it's necessary.  If you're denied coverage through the open market you can opt for a version of a state FAIR plan.  Like auto and home insurance, each company is required to take a pro-rata share of the undesirable risks.

The only reason this is tough for me is that I don't like the idea of fat people or smokers or alcoholics or drug abusers, etc. abusing their bodies and then expecting insurance to pay to keep them breathing.  Yes, I'm talking about most of you fatties on here.  Sorry, but that's the way I see it.

Heather Bresch is the daughter of Sen Joe Manchin (D)

You're right.  I transposed names.  Sorry about that.

It's still not a democrat vs republican thing.

The puzzling thing about Rand's rant, saying Obamacare is terrible, is that his beef isn't with Obamacare, but with the insurance company itself.

And Trump's answer is to just let Obamacare fail...is so vague.  HIS JOB is find a solution and implement it.  Jesus Christ, to say "it's bad, I'm just gonna let it fail". What a fucking moron.

The best way to fix a debacle i to blow it up and let the market forces dictate the outcome.

Anything less is just perpetuating democrat corruption..

Yeah, because Heather Bresch, the Mylan CEO responsible for the epi-pen thing, and daughter of Senator Grassley (R) is a democrat.

You idiots who keep saying it's a R vs D thing ...

It's never going to a free market system.  You're dreaming.  The system is so much of a debacle now and was corrupted by all the greed.  You want examples, look at the epi-pen thing that hit the news a while back.  And Shkreli.

Yeah, free market at its best.
