For you engineers here, why in the world aren’t we tapping into the largest body of water in the world and sending desalinated water inland into California and points east?
I understand Saudi Arabia gets about 50% of its water from desalination plants and sending it along 2,500km of pipelines.
Are we not as smart as them? For fucks sake, what am I missing here?

I think an even bigger problem is that the demand for clean water will far outstrip the ability and will to build pipelines over the mountains. Plus the capacity of those pipelines is just not enough to do any good. You can build pipelines inland to serve Southern California but it's way more politically feasible to build another yet another pipeline from Northern California (where they are redneck rubes that vote for Trump) and steal their water.

It's a hard reality. The republicans still can't grasp votes vs ballots, and how the game is played. Newsome knows this, and realizes there will be a cake walk into the WH come 2024. His Aunt Nancy would love nothing more than to see the clan take the highest office and continue the family tradition of fleecing the American public.

There was a recent article in the Boston Herald, where the Sec of State (Galvin - a democrat) "Mass GOP needs to beef up mail-in voting effort, Galvin says"
I wonder if Galvin really understood what he was saying...

He initiates policies that create problems for his state, then says somehow an untenable situation has arisen in his state but it isn’t his fault.
