FTFY.   As much as we want to blame FJB, remember he is a vegetable mentally.   The radical regime hiding in the White House are making these policies.

Agree completely but today I heard Tulsi Gabbard say something like “I know Biden is demented but that’s no excuse. He decided to be president, so what happens under him is his fault.”  I think it was her, I can’t keep straight all the people I listen to anymore.

Spin Zone / Re: Biden forgives $10,000 in student loans
« on: Today at 02:35:26 PM »
Necropost!!  Once again FJB is trying to buy votes by "forgiving" student loans.  I tried to explain this to my niece.  She said that the taxpayer is not involved in any of this.  The loan just goes away.  I had to patiently explain that the taxpayer is completely involved with this.  The money is borrowed from the taxpayer (government) and given to the university through the student.  That's the loan.  The loan is now "forgiven".  The university has the money.  The taxpayer (government) paid that money.  The taxpayer (government) will not get that money paid back from the student.

That made no sense, so I tried again...
You loan me $1000.  Later on, you forgive that loan.  Where is the money?  I have it.  Who lost money on the deal?  You did.  I no longer have to pay you back that $1000.  Why would you forgive that loan?  To get something back.  So I says, "like votes?"

I then had to explain that the first 80% of the loan's life you're paying only interest and no principle if you make only the minimum payment.  This person is supposedly college educated.  Dumb as a rock.  Yeah, the taxpayers got their money's worth there.

I know every old generation thinks the young generation is lost but this time I’m thinking maybe we are right.

Either she is very good at gaslighting or she is genuine. Very believable reasons for changing her stance on guns. Just an overall good interview. Now that Noem is off the table Tulsi is looking likely. And at the end, she says she would accept. She also said RFKJr already asked her and she turned him down.

This is what I mean by using diplomacy. We could do much to encourage and support this sort of thing. But Biden will do the opposite. He is deliberately trying to destroy this country.

https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-condemns-president-bidens-national-guard-power-grab

Governor Greg Abbott sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to retract the U.S. Department of the Air Force's Legislative Proposal 480 which poses a threat to the Texas National Guard. The proposal would set a dangerous precedent by giving the Secretary of the Air Force unilateral authority to transfer Air National Guard units to the Space Force—sidelining Governors as the commander-in-chief of their respective National Guards.

“In recent years, members of the Texas National Guard have heroically responded to hurricanes, wildfires, and a variety of other disasters, including the one at the Texas-Mexico border,” reads the letter. “Legislative Proposal 480, put forth by the U.S. Department of the Air Force, poses an intolerable threat to the Texas National Guard. Congress has long required the consent of a governor before units can be transferred out of the National Guard he commands. By departing from this sensible arrangement, and allowing the Secretaries to dismantle National Guard units on a whim, Legislative Proposal 480 would set a dangerous precedent. Members of the Texas National Guard must always stand ready to respond to natural disasters, civil disturbances, cartel activity that threaten our way of life. Instead of attempting such a power grab in Congress, the U.S. Department of the Air Force should work with the affected governors to build up the Space Force in a way that is consistent with federal law.”

Back in the mid '80 I was reading the Ayn Rand books.  I mentioned them to some of the leftist feminists I worked with as a rebuttal to some of their absurd views.  To my astonishment (see what I did there), they all said they LOVED Ayn Rand.  To this day, that surprises me because almost all of her views were diametrically opposed to those leftists.

They justified it by saying that she was a "strong woman".  But if they thought it through, and they admired her, then they would NOT take the views on society that they did.

There was borderline rape and the “strong woman” loved it.  Lol, leftist feminists.  Although back in the 80s they weren’t like the ones today, who will sue you into oblivion if you try to ask them for sex.

Feminist in the 80s:  I can be a strong woman and still appreciate an even stronger man.

Feminist today:  We don’t need no stinkin man.

The problem with leftist feminists or leftists in general is they don’t understand basic economics. They’ve been indoctrinated to believe in a system of parasitism enforced by authoritarianism. That’s all leftism is: An economic system based on parasitism. A non-leftist understands that voluntary transactions and profit motive in the context of a truly free market result in the highest productivity and richest economy.

As far as I can tell, the biggest problem with a rich free market economy is that it allows people to become so comfortable and complacent that they forget where it all comes from and fail to guard their founding principles, allowing future generations (by taking over education) to be targeted by leftists who then undermine the whole system and here we are.

I actually think she is missing an important point. There is no right that anyone has to extort money from others to build streets in the first place.

So it becomes more complex when you have a government extorting money from the citizens and using it to build roads. It is quite reasonable for the citizens whose money has thus been extorted to demand that if it will be used to build roads that then groups of those citizens can apply for a permit to block those streets in order to protest.

Whether people can do that should be up to the private owners of the roads.

I’ve been the private owner of a road. It’s not so great.

1971 I was one year home from Nam.

In 1971 I was 14 turning 15 (birthday is in the summer) and getting interested in boys, and getting very angry hearing every night how many American "boys" were killed and wounded over there.  It was around that time I read The Gulag Archipelago and decided I hated communism, but even though we were supposedly "fighting communism" it still did not make sense to me why our boys were fighting over there because that was the other side of the planet. That's where my head was in 1971. A confused teenage girl.

Why don't those who are fighting hardest for a new communist / socialist America realize that they will be the first ones up against the wall when it happens?

Because they don’t know history.

This is the crux of the whole problem.

“The four pillars of the modern "progressive" movement that is wreaking havoc across the Western world while simultaneously undermining trust in all sense-making institutions at once, from science to medicine to journalism to academia to the judiciary and beyond.“
