New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio wants help. He’s looking to the federal government for billions of dollars in bailout money to compensate for lost tax dollars and revenues. And even with that, he doesn’t see the city starting to open up again until late summer.
“July, August are the months where we have to begin to get back to normal,” de Blasio to Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer. He said he wants to see schools open up in September but if he pushes forward too fast it could have a “boomerang effect” with a resurgence of the coronavirus in the nation’s most populous city.
“Right now I’ve accounted for, and I’m very sorry to say this, $7.5 billion in lost revenue that we now know is going to hit this city,” de Blasio said. “We are one of the capitals of this country in terms of economic power and economic impact, and you know all that we do to help the American economy be strong, but we are not going to be able provide basic services in this city because we’ve got nowhere else to turn to get that kind of money.”
The Mayor fell short of criticizing President Trump or Vice President Pence directly, but did take shots at House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill. He claimed that if he can’t get a bailout the way airlines are, that his city will not be able to recover properly.

Well De Blasio, (Warren Whilhelm) and the rest of the bed wetting Democrats are using this crisis purposefully to create the worst economy and situation the American public has seen since the Great Depression. They are largely backed by the Medical Community who loves to preach Doom and Gloom and have themselves look to be the answer.
Here is what a Medical Professional also in the Aviation Community posted on another web forum. You can clearly see the pessimistic, destructive attitude even from "one of our own".
Until there is a vaccine the American public is in no mood to:

Shop

I fully understand where they’re coming from. My roots are half in a city and half small town. I spent my teen and early adult years in a city, nine years at a university, considered becoming a professor like my father was, married and raised children in the city. There is a part of me that identifies with urban culture more strongly than rural and no doubt is responsible for my social liberalism. But I spent my very early years in a tiny farming community in Iowa, and many visits to my farmer relatives in the mountains of VA and my coal mining and steel mill working relatives in western PA. That was an early imprint of real world producers. People born in the city who don’t have that history have no clue, and no empathy. But the best of them are the small business owners. In the city they are the ones who work as hard as a farmer, putting in 14 hour days, and risking all they own for their dream of not being a cog in a wheel in a big company. Being employed in a big company, or the government, or the university, those are the urban types who settle for the idea that Mommy and Daddy (company and government) will always be there to support you, and if they never struggled as a “little man” they have zero clue, and then they fall for intelligentsia propaganda, and there you have it: Leftist Economics - the philosophy that they, the intellectual elite, know better than the working man how to run everything. It’s the most arrogant, narcissistic idea ever conceived by man, because it’s a version of slavery but not honestly so; it’s disguised as altruism; it is Satan wearing the mask of an angel, dispensing promises never fulfilled, and responsible for more needless suffering and death than any other human invention.

I was born in a big city, but we moved to the Suburbs when I was three. Classic, White flight of the early 1960's. The burbs had less crime, were generally more affluent, with green space, single family homes, and BETTER SCHOOLS. The people that moved there were generally Republican back then. NOT TODAY. Those suburbs are now all Democrat due to what you say above.
Having lived in many different parts of the U.S. over my career, I tended to move to suburbs although spent some time living in smaller to mid size cities. The times I moved to large metro area, (San Francisco, Denver, Philly) I always settled in the suburbs.

When was the last time you got an Ebola, SARS, or HIV/Aides?
We may NEVER get a vaccine for Covid-19. THEN WHAT will that doc and his Joe and Mary Public patients do?
This is why you CANNOT turn society over to doctors, scientists, or educators. Their field of vision is way too narrow.

My husband is a software engineer. He read a book on software teams once that said when the most annoying person on the team is removed, the resulting product is not as robust. Point being that some seemingly offbeat ideas or perspectives improve the end result.
I think this is what Trump is doing. He annoys, but the end result is better than if he weren’t there. :)

There are teams and there are groups of people.
I've seen a couple of engineers that are best given to a competitor.
