Ever talk to a Vegan?
No. I don’t associate with that level of Godless heathen.

When I made the post that started this thread I knew the belief itself was real, even though I am an atheist. If I thought that the belief was that detrimental to my own interests I would not have wished anyone a Merry Christmas. But there are many fine people among my family and friends who believe in God and no reason for me to treat them with disdain or argue about their beliefs.

Since belief systems seem often driven by emotional reactions, I think it important to leave a good impression of atheists. Too often atheists come across as jerks. If someone wishes me a Merry Christmas my response is to reply in kind. Only if circumstances permit further discussion would I mention that I am an atheist. (Several years ago at the end of a late December conference call with some computer programmers in Bangalore they wished me a Merry Christmas, so I responded in kind. I knew they were Hindu and probably assumed I was Christian, but it wasn’t an appropriate time to mention their mistake. It was the thought that counted.)

I considered not initiating the post at all, and who would notice such a lack? But I thought some might appreciate a sincere Merry Christmas even among those who know I am an atheist. I acknowledge your belief is real and presumably helps guide your life, even if I don’t have such a belief.
Thank you Jim. I have atheist friends that have the same attitude as you.

What I don’t understand is why some atheists or agnostics feel the need to proselytize their lack of faith, or ridicule those who do hold faith.

Merry fairytale day! While I do believe there may be a higher power out there, I sure as hell don't believe in the make believe stories told by religion.
Well that was unnecessary.  You also sound like a militant atheist lib, which I know you’re not.

Depends on what the "other side" is working towards.  How can Trump work with the side that only wants to see Trump gone?
Exactly. The “other side” is anti-Constitution, anti-freedom, and certainly anti-Republican at ALL cost.

Bob, how did it work out for Bush to reach across the aisle?  They vilified him from Day1 and haven’t stopped.

If you’ve ever watched Fox carry Trump rallies, and they do it a lot, you should notice that Trump is fighting for US-the law-abiding American people.  Unlike the CNN rhetoric, he is literally the uniter, and not the divider.

I’ll take THAT over any reach-across-the-aisle swamp dweller any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Another in the never ending, babbling barbie-ites, that can't seem to find anything productive to do with their freshman term in congress.

Babbling idiot, Occasio-Cortez is now trying to label the one politician who has no fear what-so-ever of assholes like her, as frightened and insecure.

Knowing the weak minded, nut-job filled communist party (democrats), liek we all do, that means the exact opposite and the asshole - girl knows she is over matched by the President.

She will be an exceptional replacement for senile, corrupt, nancy pelosi as soon as the communist members (democrat) of congress finally fire her ass.

The irony is that Melania is stronger, smarter, and more beautiful than Horse Teeth will ever be on her best day.

should I ask why it is so hard to find a gift bag (or wrapping paper) that says Merry Christmas.
You know why.

My daughter was interested in Bucknell University back in 2005. Then she looked at the school calendar and it listed Ramadan, but Christmas was called something like “Winter Holiday.”  She rejected it right then and there.

Republicans aren’t in the clear on this at all. I raised it once with my GOP congressman and was utterly dismissed.  I think “rounding error” was used. Fucker.

Yes you should!  Obviously Christmas is a holiday that represents white privilege because white nationalists and white Trump supporters celebrate the day.

Thanks for being so “woke.”

Sorry Stan, but to say “comfortable commonality” between a 72, 73 (all variants) and 75/76 is just not there.  And I’m speaking type rating wise.

Boeing for years configured their cockpits to the customer order.  A TWA cockpit was vastly different from a Delta cockpit of the same type.  And airlines could actually order variations on the systems.  It wasn’t until the 76/75 that Boeing began standardizing the cockpit.   The 75/76 cockpits and systems are so identical that the type rating says “B757/B767”, so you get both for one.

Take a look at the cockpits from the 737-300 up through the Max.  The Max cockpit was way different, and it’s engine/systems were different. The Max in no way resembles the earlier models. And the Achilles heel of the Max was flight handling, which required the MCAS to get certified.

Airbus with regards to type similarity beats Boeing all day long.  The A-318, 319, 320 and 321 are the same system and cockpit, and are flown on one type (A-320).

The cockpits of the A-320, A-330, A-340, and A-380 are so similar that a typed pilot in one model can transposition to another with minimal sim training.

Boeing is finally coming around with the same concept in the 777 and 787, 797.
How many hours do you have in Boeings?  Sorry, I’m going to take the word of my friend who flew for Uncle Sam from Guam to the Gulf of Tonkin in the early 70s in Vietnam until he retired from United at age 60.  100% of that time of at 35 years was in Boeings.  That’s why gas passers were so much in demand by the airlines in that era - because they have a shit ton of time in Boeings.

Obviously the type ratings are different. I’m not stupid. I’m saying that these guys told me there was a comfort level when you went from model to model from the location of common switches, tillers, etc. etc.  That doesn’t mean they were the same, and I never said that. Im saying there was commonality in many respects.

Agreed, the Feds do have the power to regulate interstate commerce, and Sarbanes Oxley and Dodd Frank prove that they're so good at it.
The government used to have some handle on breaking up monopolies to the benefit of the people. Remember having to rent a phone from Ma Bell?

They also fuck it up royally sometimes, or refuse to do their jobs to regulate it.

I point to the consolidation of the Big 8 CPA firms into now the Big 4.  Worse yet is the consolidation in the airline industry. I don’t think the consumer has been well served by limiting options, but the politicians certainly have.

If SWA is a large enough piece of the total revenue for Boeing, I'm sure it can argued and won in court that they had leverage on Boeing.  How much that would translate into culpability and financial liability/restitution is another matter.  Not a lawyer, but I seriously doubt SWA will be spared any injury simply because they are a customer.
100% of SWA’s fleet is Boeing 737s. What were they going to do for leverage - go to Airbus?

I have a friend who flew the KC-135 (Boeing 707 variant), 727, 737, 757, and 767 for United. Another friend currently flies the 767 and 777 for Delta. They ALWAYS comment about the comfortable commonality of a Boeing product from model to model.

Whatever change might have been made to the 737 or a new type for the MAX, it still would have been a Boeing.
