Just a comment here. I'm sure it won't change anyone's posting behavior.
But I tend to ignore links to news stories that do not include some sort of personal opinion attached and some sort of reasoning for me to open that link. A short quote from the article or video and a comment about it will be much more likely to get me to click on a link.

Usually when I post a link I leave it up to the reader to decide it on its merits. Problem here if someone post a link and does what you ask then the readers start trying to twist the intent of the posted link to fit their narrative.

Since most articles these days are biased to begin with towards some narrative, I'd say this is bound to happen anyway.

I'm guessing that that naked link is going to point out that the word I made up also has a different meaning.

But adding your own thoughts involves you having thoughts of your own, rather than just regurgitating the ideas of others.

Agree

I also don't click if it's just a link.
-
Same with me.
-
When I post a link I always copy and paste the germane part of the article to show what it is all about.

Naked Link: What Is a Naked Link?
A naked link is a hyperlink for which the anchor text is the URL itself, so called because the URL is fully visible to readers.

There you go. But just so you don't bother, I actually quoted the entire contents of the page. There's nothing else to read there.

Thank you.

Why does this thread keep popping up in my new threads!?!!! There is no more activity here.

If I were guessing, the topic line has attracted spammers with a certain type of links to post here, and our fair moderator has been doing yeoman's work deleting them but it still twigs the "last updated" date on the thread.

Interesting idea. Jason, I would endorse dumping this thread if it's causing you headaches. I think we all got the OP's message.

It may be coincidence, but it got fixed very soon after I reported it. That "report to moderator" button does have some benefit after all.

Check your bank account. I'm sure Jason has that button rigged to draw out his "fee" of $1,000 - well deserved by the way.

What you do with naked links in the privacy of your own home is none of my, nor anyone else's, business.
