The founding fathers did not foresee career politicians. Had they, there would have been term limits on representatives and senators.
Representatives were envisioned being farmers or community individuals who would be elected, listen to the community then go to Washington to represent the communities interest. Senators were to be elected by the state legislature to go to Washington and represent the state's interest.
Most of our problems today emanate from the establishment career politicians who are profiting off of their positions in ways that are quite sickening. Voter apathy keeps them in office, and the establishment uses the treasury to buy votes when needed.
Just look at the mental conditions of Pelosi and Feinstein. Pelosi is going downhill mentally, and her alcoholism is accelerating the process. Feinstein is letting her staff make her decisions, which is a travesty as none of them were elected.
We could go down a long list of aged politicians who have long exceeded their usefulness. FJB is a prime example.

Instead, the lawmaker said, they had to reintroduce themselves to Feinstein multiple times during an interaction that lasted several hours.
Rather than delve into policy, Feinstein, 88, repeated the same small-talk questions, like asking the lawmaker what mattered to voters in their district, they said, with no apparent recognition the two had already had a similar conversation.

I would wager that if we went back to only property owners (or at least taxpayers) could vote, the electorate would be intelligent, savvy, and in charge of the government.

I agree. But if it came to that, the political class would nationalize all property and give it out to just those who "deserve" it. That is, would vote to keep them in power.

That's why some believe, not me of course, that another revolution against the Royalty and/or another Civil War is necessary to return the U.S. to the principals of the Founding Fathers and the reasons we exist in the first place. That's another reason the Government wants our legally owned and legally used firearms.

Yep.
It was only suppose to be a civic duty, meet in the capital maybe once or twice a year. After a term or two let someone do it.

We've created the exact people the country rebelled against in the first place. Now we're a colony of China, with bought and paid for politicians and corporations.
