Right. But presumably they are just skipping the start of the line where they check that your ID and boarding pass match.

I still don’t understand how they are replacing that.
Maybe they think that if you survived the trip to LaGuardia, you’re good to go. Lol

Pilot Zone / Catastrophic Engine Failure after Takeoff
« on: November 27, 2021, 12:14:04 PM »
Remember he turned to a crossing runway, not the departing runway. That certainly assisted in a good outcome. As he barely made the crossing runway, I very much doubt he could have made the departing runway. IAE, he kept a cool head, flew well, and has a great story to tell.

Adventure: (n), adversity retold at leisure
Hind site is 20/20, but having about 75 hours in 172RGs and a 182RG, Cessna gear extension creates a LOT of drag, because the wheels come out perpendicular to the air stream, and just hang there while the gear motor completes extension. I think he dropped his gear too early, and it almost made him unable to make the runway. But he was a cool cat, that’s for sure.

Edit:  watch the gear extension at around the 9:00 mark. He dropped the gear within seconds of the engine failure.

That’s impressive - I can’t believe they did it with tires vs skis.

I have two buddies who deployed to Antarctica with the MN ANG. They are engine mechanics on C-130s and weren’t the pilots, but said it was blinding to fly into the Antarctic.

I notice jaybird NEVER mentions muslim slave owning, slave taking and human trafficking in the current age....

It's always about whitey and his make believe grievances.
I’m not sure what’s more interesting - seeing where slavery exists, or seeing where it doesn’t exist, yet keeps getting blamed for the world’s problems.

Spin Zone / Re: Buttgig: Roads Are Racist

I think Dave Chappelle best explained it when he talked about the Amber Guyer trial. It's not that we think she should have been treated more harshly, but we think that everyone should be treated with the same humanity, caring and dignity that Amber was shown.

The feelings of racism come not because Rittenhouse was found NG, but because if the shooter would have been black, there is no faith that the outcome would have been the same.

Capiche?

No, I don’t capiche at all. You’ve got to be fuckjng shitting me.

So the race bating race hustlers in the MSM and race bating race hustler politicians like Biden feel completely free to call Rittenhouse a racist and white supremacist, and the judge a racist, with 100% zero evidence, because……he didn’t sentence Rittenhouse to life in prison because that’s what you think a hypothetical black man would get?

Joy Read, Jaybird et al needed a sacrificial white 18-year old lamb to feel better about THEIR circumstances?

You are seriously one sick, twisted person.

Appears a long life of crime for this guy. And appears he has been quite mentally ill and angry and takes it out violently on people around him. This attack seems it was a spur of the moment thing after a fight with a girlfriend? No excuse but perhaps an explanation.

Under normal standards of evidence I am not in favor of the death penalty due to the chances of error. However, the evidence is strong enough and beyond the “beyond any possible doubt standard” that I could see the death penalty being appropriate. While I think it is a pity he did not get help earlier in life, at some point if you can’t learn the lesson to control your anger and respect other people’s rights, even denying them the right to life, then I see no reason the rest of society should afford the killer that which he denies others. Theoretical consideration since WI does not have the death penalty.

I used to be pro-death penalty, but have changed my view over the last 20 years.  The swamp is too deep - state, federal and municipal - to give any judge or any government that much power to take a life.

Natural Rights and the constitution never seems to have affect on the communist party (democrats).
Absolutely. I seem to recall having a debate years ago (possibly with Steingar but I don’t recall) here or on POA about this. They were adamant that no such rights exist but for their existence in the Bill of Rights.  In other words, it’s the government that grants rights, and we have no such rights if not for the government.

I don’t know how people can get to the point of having such a twisted view of natural rights, yet on the other hand believe the “right” to kill your baby is “enshrined” in the Constitution.

Didn’t one of them recently purchase a handgun and take lessons? And suddenly sees the point of second amendment right to self defense?

The Kommunist far left may have finally gone too far by sanctioning rioting and looting. A lot of independents and more sane Democrats are starting to wake up, at least if only on one issue at a time, but that’s a start.
Not to pick a nit, but it’s a natural right to self-defense, and the Second Amendment simply guarantees our right to keep and bear arms.

Pay attention to the 11:30-12:00 mark if you want to see how we are being manipulated by the “independent media.”

I didn’t think Lindbergh was in WWII due to the belief I’ve was a Nazi sympathizer. I had to consult Wiki:

In the years before the United States entered World War II, Lindbergh's non-interventionist stance and statements about Jews and race led some to suspect he was a Nazi sympathizer, although Lindbergh never publicly stated support for Nazi Germany and on multiple occasions condemned them in both his public speeches and in his personal diary. However, early on in the war he opposed not only the intervention of the United States but also the provision of aid to the United Kingdom.[5] He supported the antiwar America First Committee and resigned his commission in the U.S. Army Air Forces in April 1941 after President Franklin Roosevelt publicly rebuked him for his views. In September 1941, Lindbergh gave a significant address, titled "Speech on Neutrality", outlining his views and arguments against greater American involvement in the war.[6]

Lindbergh did ultimately express public support for the U.S. war effort after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent United States declaration of war upon Germany. He flew 50 missions in the Pacific Theater as a civilian consultant but did not take up arms,[7] as Roosevelt refused to reinstate his Air Corps colonel's commission. In 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower restored his commission and promoted him to brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.[8] In his later years, Lindbergh became a prolific author, international explorer, inventor, and environmentalist, eventually dying of lymphoma in 1974 at age 72.

Oh! FDR stopped Lindberg.  I thought he meant FDR banned flying LOP.  LOL!  Nevermind.
That’s how I read it as well. Doh!
