By Request:
I think its Sierra Hotel.

I like the discussion about the turboprop versions, but I think turboprops on an unpressurized cabin is a waste.

meh

I think it's a little ugly, but anyone building a new airframe is alright by me. I really like the DA-40, except that I don't fit in it well.
-
It looks like the Delorean of airplanes. And expensive. I wouldn't want one unless it could achieve time travel.

I call bull hockey. Anyone that cannot fit into an Air Frame is required to vilify and h8.

I kind of like it. Not a huge fan of T tails but oh well. 2000NM range is pretty good too.

I like it. Except for that damn 48 ft wingspan.
That's about 15 ft more than my Bonanza.
Where do you hangar a plane like that?
But I think it looks cool.

Did you even read my post? Here it is again:

What the hell is wrong with you? I said I liked the DA-40. Are you calling bullshit that I don't fit in it well?
What an ass. >:(

The website says it goes 198kts on 11.7GPH (not sure if that's per side or total, very good either way). If that's true, then those are great specs and would make me consider it if I was in the market for one. What market are they going after, though?

Okay Stan. Don't get your panties in a wad over my forgotten smilie. I was saying that since you can't fit in the DA-40 (well) you cannot like it and are required to tell everyone what a terrible plane it is.
Make sure you get your oatmeal and prunes in the morning. m'kay?

That's total fuel burn...BOTH ENGINES running. They didn't say if that performance is LOP or ROP though. Anyone know if you can run a diesel LOP? Oh brother...another way to have a ROP v LOP argument.... >:(

The rep in the second video above is claiming 13-14 gph at about 175kts. That sounds more realistic to me. Anyhow, it's a fantastic plane. Basically a Seneca with a fuel burn of a Bonanza and uses Jet A. The price tag is what it is. New plane buyers want new planes and that's what it is. It does seem much superior to the Seneca and the Baron at likely about the same price and all new, not 1960s rehashed.
They said they only need to sell 50 a year and I think they'll be able to do that.

That's a concern for guys like you and me, but if you have the money to order up a new one of these, you'll be able to find a place to put it. At the very least, it's made of plastic, leave it outside!! ;D

Spend a million plus and "leave it outside"? I think your first point probably explains your second.... :)

Both good points.
But a 48 ft wingspan would still be a pain trying to navigate around some of the crowed ramps; and not even considering other people navigating around your parked plane (remember brYan's problems).
But that is a nit. I still like the plane.

Are there lots of hangars able to handle a 48' wingspan?

Not around here. If there are any, they are community hangar$ at larger airport$.
I have a 43' T and there are several planes that it won't accommodate.

Depends on where you live, but yeah it will likely have to go in a custom privately owned hangar, like at an airpark, or a larger corporate hangar. On my field you can rent 50x50 box hangars that it would fit in for $800 a month, but 48' into 50' is pretty tight, but would work if you had to.

The DA-62 is gorgeous and a tremendous performer from what I have seen - I would own one but there are other ways to spend $1M.
