Well one opinion anyway:

TLDR: Trump is right to consider buying Greenland.

Once again, I agree with Trump, but have a problem with his methods.  If I were a Greenlander, I would have been pissed off at him too.  If there were ever a real chance of this happening, I could think of several ways to make it go down easier.

He's used to being a real estate developer, negotiating in a grandiose manner and acquiring stuff.  If it were me I would have floated this to Greenland quietly, and PRIVATELY to assess their position on it.  Trump can be a bull in a China shop.

Anyone who didn’t know Trump was a bull in a china shop during the campaign wasn’t paying attention. I myself speculated he might crash his way into getting us involved in a nuclear war. Nobody really knew how his style would end up playing out. But we all knew his style. I for one was willing to risk anything to avoid another Democrat in the White House. I am pleasantly thrilled with how he is turning out.

Trump always reminds me of this guy:

There is precedent.  Truman tried it, since Greenland was key to our Cold War defense system.  They of course found a way to set up the needed defense apparatus without buying the whole island.

That may have been best. If we bought it then there would be the matter of possible statehood or territory, and a lot of baggage.

At this point in history I am wary of expanding our borders. We are having enough trouble containing what we already own. If the Democrats take back control and implement their socialist plans; the country would further rot and weaken from within. If they don’t, once Trump is gone we are back to swamp Republicans, and we will have similar results except more gradually. DC suburbs are the richest counties in the nation: The ruling elite ever more disconnected from the people. And as we learn from Rome, expanding reach under those circumstances is fatal.
