And it's all about racism. This is what happens when you try to be multicultural. For a constitutional nation, any immigrants and all ethnic groups must buy into the constitutional rule of law, or you descend into chaos. The constitution must be held as the highest authority, not your religion, not your social justice war, and not any one party. Racial injustice and religious freedom are addressed by constitutional amendment not by sawing people's heads off.

So France will be overrun for a third time. My dad camped all over France from 7 June 44 until he got to visit Belgium in December 1944.
Here’s hoping no more Americans need to die to save those sorry Frogs.

Did he pick up any French rifles for souvenirs? Most were never fired and only dropped once. ;)

I have several letters written by my grandfather from France in the Great War. They are now over 100 years old. I hardly dare unfold them to read they are so delicate, still in their envelopes.

Lol! He should have. He carried an M-1 Carbine.
He was attached to the 368th FG - a P-47 Thunderbolt group. They captured land for forward airbases, and protected those bases until the front moved east, and then they’d do it again.
They captured and built the first allied air field on the continent in Cardonville - Advanced Landing Ground A-3 - between 7 and 19 June 1944. They put it into service on 10 June.
Dad killed a German with his trench knife while walking patrol in the hedgerows around the base.

My grandfather was in France during WW1. For rations they had thousands of cans of tomatoes.
After the war he refused to ever eat a canned tomato ever again.

Haha! My other grandfather was an Austrian soldier fighting the Italians and was captured and a POW in Italy for a while. He wouldn’t touch spaghetti ever again.

My dad was a gunnery sergeant in France and Germany, then an MP in Munich after the war. He refused to eat hash, meatloaf or fake meat.

otoh - my dad was a Navy cook during WWII. He learned how to make do with whatever he could get his hands on. And he did his best to keep the crew fed - even to the point of not bowing to the wishes of some officers who wanted the good stuff just for themselves. Some officers had to learn to not mess (no pun) with the cook.

My dad had the same reaction with Brussel sprouts. He had so many in England before the invasion that he never wanted to eat one again, and he never did.
Interestingly, in the book Robin Olds Fighter Pilot Robin talked about getting sick of brussel sprouts while in England. Lol.
