I don't follow any pro sports. But I have to wonder why a player would be worth so much money.

People buy tickets and watch it on TV.

Understood.
But does one individual produce that much for the team owners?
-
I guess it depends on how much they think he generates for the team... season tickets, other types of game-day revenues, etc etc.
Give the NFL salary cap, I wonder if Patrick really thought about how much money will be available for other players (like the O line to protect him, receivers that can actually catch his passes, etc etc)

That's a good point. Many times this happens after a SB win. The QB gets the huge contract and they can't keep players around that he can win with. Also, will he now be more vulnerable to injury? He's a running QB some of the time, so also puts himself at risk. He's been hurt before albeit not long term.
Can teams afford this kind of outlay? I guess the TV, Cable and Merchandising are very lucrative. With the League and Owners now embracing BLM and all this SJW crap, I am out, so it doesn't matter to me. -

I’m certain the NFL hasn’t calculated the permanent effect their actions will have on their league. When everyone is standing for the black national anthem, but everyone on the field takes a knee for the Star Spangled Banner, they will have jumped the shark with a large number of people. They will suffer a permanent loss of a large number of people.

They lost me a few years ago. Now I only watch a few reruns of the Redskins Superbowl games that my Brother In Law was starting center.

I hope you're right. By embracing the entire hate America, Marxist BLM LIE, they should alienate a good portion of the audience and fan base. At least you'd think that would be the case. I guess they're banking on the shift to a PC, Woke, SJW society and audience. I think they are wrong.
