Those moderators thought they were so smart and mug, until the candidates returned fire! And those questions...fantasy football? For realz?

I do think the candidates did a nice job of further outing the mainstream medias liberal/progressive bias.

I've never flown a Grumman.  Closest I've come is Cap'n Ron let me sit in his once.

I had a Tiger for almost 15 years.  It is a fun plane to fly do to the light control forces, that have a somewhat "sporty" feel as not much input will get a lot of roll and pitch.  It is reasonably fast (135 KTAS) but will not keep up with retract Mooneys.  The sliding canopy has a lot of benefits.  It is a very easy plane to fly, and land if you stay on the numbers.

I've heard that the retract gear on this airplane was not necessary for efficient flight just a training aid for pilots. The picture may bear this out. Looks like it retracts just enough for a prop strike. ;D
True - it is primarily for training value and brings only a small reduction in drag.

The prop is wood core covered in fiberglass and designed to shatter to prevent engine damage.

The Russian design is extremely clever, lots of other neat little details - for example, the landing gear overcenters are designed such that if one collapses it overloads the other two so they cannot collapse.

Also, the outboard aileron hinge bracket is mounted just low enough to keep wing structure from touching the ground if either main gear collapse.

The Yak is an amazing machine, love flying it.

I really like hearing about your Yak, and the CJ-6's.  Great info.  I'd love to have one but doubt I can swing it, well maybe someday.

I don't know about now, but when I was in England back in the seventies you could not say anything bad about the Queen in public or the bobbies might rap you on the head and cart you away.

So we don't have it all that bad.

Yet.

I find myself being VERY careful about what I say against the government on the internet, cellphones, and even land lines.  I do not trust my own government anymore, especially with my political leanings.  Look what happened at the IRS, EPA, NSA etc.  Government agencies with a poltical bias being used to punish conservatives, and/or spy on people.  It is starting to feel like Nazi Germany (Gestapo), or the Soviet Union (KGB).

CNBC almost made some of the Republican candidates seem "Presidential" which is a hard thing to do.

What do you mean?  Everyone on the stage and every middle school class president is more presidential than our current Narcissist in Chief.

Yes, Obama is even less Presidential, but that doesn't make the GOP candidates "Presidential".  I don't think there is much gravitas there.  Lesser of two evils yet again.

I hate to say it, and some of my colleagues will jump on me I'm sure but the money is really starting to kill our political system.  The "donor class" is steering politics and government at this point and the citizenry be damned.  Remember Obama saying those on Wall Street should be in prison?  Who went to prison?  Where is Eric Holder working now?

We're now seeing the money influence the polls on the "R" side of things in Iowa.  The Club for Growth did a huge buy to run ads against Trump and true to form his number have plummeted in Iowa.  I'll bet they thought it would help Jeb, but instead it boosted Carson to the lead.

The scary thing is a lot of money comes from media outlets, or those that own/run media outlets like CEO Brian Roberts at Comcast.  Comcast owns NBC, and MSNBC, as well as operating as a cable company.  Brian Roberts is an avowed leftist, Obama bundler, friend, and supporter.  NBC, MSNBC, and Comcast are all far left in bias.  This is the same as Disney who owns ESPN, and ABC in a partnership with Hearst Corp.  All leftist outfits, that promote leftist policy.

Oh man, this is hilarious.

Quote
The pundit asked the vendor why the shirt cost $20 when it couldn’t have been more than $6 to make it.

The vendor replied by telling Elder that he had to “make profit.”

And these economic geniuses are supporting Bernie Sanders.   >:(

To these politicians, profits are evil, but they still take corporate money, and certainly become rich while in office, and then afterwards.  Do as I say, not as I do.  I'd like to see Bernie pay 90% of his income in income tax.  The remaing 10% can be used to pay all the other taxes we owe.  Oh wait, that wouldn't be enough.

Whenever someone pushes the government line on anything that limits personal liberty, you know you are being conned. That's why so many progressives wet their pants every time a new "scientific" finding is introduced. They LOVE anything that limits personal liberty, freedom to make one's own decisions on anything except abortion, and progressives seem to be obsessed with having someone to tell them what to do, think, and say.

The absolute trust in government, and government solutions that limit freedoms, and result into more control of the populace baffles me.  Government is NOT benign, and its purpose is to sustain itself, and grow, not solve problems.

I really think we need to get away from foreign energy.  I know it is a world market, and we buy the leaset expensive we can get, but strategically I think it makes more sense to maximize domestic production, and refining even if it cost us more.  We would temporarily have some price spikes, but in the longer term it would be better for us, especially that we have so much natural gas resources in addition to oil and coal.

So we use most of our oil, and then we're even more dependent on the middle east.  Nah, let's use their cheap oil first.

I don't think we really have to worry about using up our energy resources, as we have centuries of supply.

I think a Tiger would be a good choice, or one of the Mooney M20 series.  My next plane maybe an M20C, E, or J.
