Title: Trump's greatest accomplishment

Donald Trump has really blurred party and ideological lines. Consider that Trump was a billionaire New Yorker with very liberal positions on abortion, gun control and managed to be the GOP nominee. The GOP was a party practically beholden to the south and Midwest. People from the northeast were generally distrusted. Think Guiliani and Mitt Romney. As far as the GOP was concerned, NYC was tantamount to Dante's 8th level of hell. Yet Trump managed to be from NYC and gain the GOP nomination. In doing this, Trump proved that one need not conform to everyday party stature.

Trump not only blurred party lines, he defied all political convention. While I understand that people dislike Trump, it had to be a drag to be force fed Hillary and Jeb Bush. There were even countless memes and jokes about how internet was barely a thing the last time a Bush and Clinton ran against each other.
But that was it, the parties, the media, and the rest of the institutions we refer to as the "Establishment" seemed to be deciding for us. And Trump defied all of this.
Although he was a republican, he really took on both parties. He took on 17 candidates, to include governors, governors who were relatively popular at least in their state party organization. EVERYBODY ganged up on the Donald, they relentlessly stressed his lack of experience, many personal faults (and he has many) all to no avail. Eventually Trump picked them off one by one, and they started joining him. How classic was it when even Chris Cristie was standing behind him, tamed!
Once he dominated the GOP, then he went after the final level of the video game, the dragon that was Hillary Clinton...... the unstoppable establishment of establishment. How much $$$$, international support, support from both parties, were poured into the Hillary campaign to stop this jackass that seemingly could not be stopped.

In short, Trump provided the American people with a vehicle to voice their frustrations. Americans felt as though they were being ignored, laughed at, maligned. The collapse of the VA systems, the shipping jobs to places in Southeast Asia where US workers would compete with countries that practiced child labor, the leaked videos of politicians laughing at "stupid Americans" and the people could do nothing. They had no platform. Hollywood actors, singers, athletes and media personalities in general continued to adore one another and these politicians and the people had no venue whatsoever. Trump provided that. Say what you will about Trump, he is a bad businessman, his ethics suck, he is impulsive to an extent that makes a teenager look judicious. BUT DO NOT say he does not know how to spot a demand and tap into it. I have never seen anything like it.
Trump provided a venue by which everyday nobodies could remind the elites that they still matter and that the "representatives" still serve them! Trump humbled those that believed they were above laws, norms and any other societal expectations. They tried to stop him. OH did they try! Actors would make statements televised, singers would rant at their concerts. They saw the stadiums fill up at his rallies. He was no longer the oddity on reality TV, he was soaring.
Trump did many things, but humbling the US establishment will be his greatest accomplishment. However his administration turns out, politicians today know they still have to listen to us and they are STILL ACCOUNTABLE to those they represent!

Trump pulled off the impossible, and you're right, he was fighting both parties.  Still an unbelievable feat, and I think he will do it again.

I need to go put quotes around it, I’m not the one who wrote that, but I agree with him completely and have said the same but not nearly as eloquently expressed as this guy.
